Dude, someone else actually wrote Death/DEATH! This delights me. :p

He Kindly Stopped For Me

Cracked out ships of awesome adorableness ftw. :p

Guys... the mods at the Discworld comm didn't make a warning post about NOT SPAMMING THE FRAKKING COMM like they did last year. So naturally... IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN.

I hate May 25th. I never want to see another lilac. :p

(Also, that "may 25th arrrgh" tag? PREEXISTING, BABY. :p)

So, since Adama/Roslin is the latest addition to my rather short OTP list, I started thinking about the list. And realized it's a depressing, DEPRESSING list. Seriously!

All of Yubsie's Full Blown OTPs EVER

Han/Leia: Actually did okay... other than the fact that one son is dead, the other son is EVIL and dead and their daughter lives at Donna Noble's Home for Abused Characters. :p

Cher/Hubb: Were in WOLF'S RAIN. :p

Angel/Collins: "Hey Nuki, have you seen... RENT?" :p

Zoe/Wash: Are the HMS TESSIE DEADSHIP.

Bill Adama/Laura Roslin: Are on BATTLESTAR GALACTICA

Carrot/Angua: Are in the best shape on the list. Now if only we could get Tess to stop shipping them...

In conclusion: I need to stop letting Tess near my OTPs. :p

Doctor Who fandom? Discworld fandom? One of you has to get a new abbreviation. I keep having to look at the comm name to see what "DW" is THIS time. :p
yubsie: (Default)
Okay, who sets off fireworks at 1:30 AM? Honestly! Some people in the bazillion apartment complexes around here were trying to SLEEP. :p

I have my Anime North costumes all ready to go now. That just leaves Ryan's. :p LUckily, tomorrow is a holidy. Probably won't go into work because I haven't decided what to do next. Other than trying to find an alkyl option... :p I'll stop now. :p

For the record, Discworld!Death doing ballet...

Is like the greatest thing ever )

Also, WTF LAST LIKE MINUTE OF DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES.

This job hunting thing is a bit of a roller coaster. Yesterday was a really bad day. Today was better though, because he arranged a couple interviews. Want this over plz.

Had my oh so fun employee health exam today. No one mentioned that there was a tuberculosis test involving a JABBY THING. :p I have to go back in for bloodwork because I work with designated substances, lucky me. :p

And I has The Colour of Magic movieness, yay! Something to watch in the place of Torchwood tomorrow!

[livejournal.com profile] pirate_lass and [livejournal.com profile] helplessdancer both got me!

So I talk about ten icons )

Also, the bonus episode of Torchwood this week? AMAZING. And whatcha mean TWO MORE WEEKS?

... wow, mediaplayer. Wow. :p

First off, oh my GOD, Terry Pratchett, it's so distressing. And of all the diseases...

Onto the cheerier topic of Pushing Daisies!

And spoilers )

The conversation thingies will probably be written after my final on Saturday is over. Some of them will be interesting to write since I've never written the fandom before. :p

My sister amuses me. She's disappointed that the actor who plays Jack is gay... because she was hoping he was a straight man comfortable enough in his sexuality to play a pansexual. Most straight women are sad he's gay because his hot. :p (Though of course in a highly generic way! Silly Mr Generichead. :p)

Dear people who keep writing to the paper claiming not to be part of LPPA:

You've lost. Be gracious.

They FINALLY decided to do something about the river after, oh, forty years instead of doing endless studies. So could we stop with the letters full of the same lies you've been spewing for years? (To recap: Actually, the dump is already being dealt with because it was illegal to begin with, the headpond is not clean, the headpond is not a stable ecosystem...) It was tiresome to begin with. :p

No love,

Me

I made Carrot and Angua Sims yesterday and fast tracked them through university (Basically, my usual policy of only playing every other semester combined with exempting them from being part of the rotation until they graduate) I decided to play taking into account Carrot's expressed Views on birth control. So yeah, they graduated with two kids and another on the way. :p Poor Caleb is quite possibly the ugliest Sim toddler I had ever seen. Of course, I wasn't expecting pretty considering both parents are based on Paul Kidby art, with the noses that come with it. :p

So, got my schedule today. I'm going to be in Halifax for almost a week. I have Saturday June 9 off, so... hi [livejournal.com profile] jeepersjournal and [livejournal.com profile] neekabe, what are you guys up to? :p

Amusingly, there is apparently a Fredricton store scheduled after that. While [livejournal.com profile] non_horation is in Rome, of course. :p Because the universe will implode if we ever manage to meet. :p

And it's May 25. Haven't checked my flist yet to see what the damage from [livejournal.com profile] discworld is yet, but here's my May 25 icon! :p

Also, apparently my sister can hear the doorbell and I can't. Troubling. :p
yubsie: (Default)
I just had a dream about Granny Weatherwax and Tiffany Aching picking out a Cabbage Patch doll. I'm really not sure what to make of that. :p
yubsie: (Default)
SO, my default icon TOTALLY clashes with the Valentine's Day colour scheme. Thanks LJ, now my eyes are burning. :p

I watched Hogfather today and yesterday. It's so shiny! Teatime's voice is SO CREEPY! And DEATH and Susan were BANG ON. I love both of them SO MUCH. :p My only real complaint about the movie was that Nobby looked much too human. In general though, it was splendidly done. And a lot of my favourite lines were left intact. "They need fantasies to be human. To be the place where falling angel meets rising ape." Pratchett, I love you so.

And the match girl scene! I love that scene SO MUCH. Albert trying to explain why the little match girl is supposed to die and DEATH having NONE OF THAT! "You're not allowed to do that." "But the Hogfather is. The Hogfather gives gifts, and what better gift is there than a future?" LOVE!

Also, there should be a rule against certain songs shuffling up when I'm studying. Nothing quite like studying for a midterm and then suddenly hearing "I wish I could go back to college...". I informed the song that actually, she didn't. :p

Inorganic midterm tomorrow. Hard to study for, but hopefully it won't be deadly. The one from last year looked manageable, at any rate.

Oh! Oh! Oh! Vicki and I were looking at old Grindelwald (a Harry Potter RPG that I used to play in a couple years ago before it died an unfortunate death) stuff last night. We realized that the PB for Padma Patil looked awfully familiar. We eventually realized that she was...

INARA

I'll never be able to look at Padma the same way again. This is SO going in the House Cup.

Oh, and Rent in Italian is AMAZING. :D

Crivens!

I read Wintersmith today. It was full of Pratchetty goodness. :D Some of the stuff the Wintersmith was doing made me think of FMA, which is amusing. (I need to see the rest of that, incidently...) My sister tried to tell me to stop laughing. Not bloody likely when I'm reading Discworld though. :p Just not that kind of book. :p

Bit of a shopping spree today. I try to remind myself that this is because I won't be buying much of anything until the NEXT time I'm in civilization. :P

I picked up the last of the fabric for my Garnet costume. It's not QUITE the right weight, but it was what I could afford and I shall find a way of managing. Also, everything was 50% off today, which is always a bonus. The girl who cut it for me sat there trying to figure out where she knew me from until I said something about it being for a costume. SHe was at ANimaritime last year, so we talked about cosplay plans for this year's convention. :p

Then it was off to Chapters because I had a $50 gift card. Which is mostly used up now, since I bought Tempest, Wintersmith and The Science of Discworld III: Darwin's Watch. I wandered through the oddly organized youth section looking for Wintesmith since it's a Tiffay Aching book. Turns out I should have turned around after picking up Darwin's Watch, because there was more Pratchettness on the next shelf. :P

Then we went to the madhouse that is the mall on Boxing-Day-for-sale-purposes. My search for Sims 2: University turned into a bit of a quest, as a lot of the stores only had the later expansions that my computer can't handle. My sister eventually suggested TOys R Us, which, much to my surprise, actually had it. THat made me happy, because the only option after that was trying EB Games, and they were making people line up to get in the store. I don't much care for queuing up just to get IN to a store. :p I also eventually found a Christmas present for Ryan. And I bought the RotJ DVD, because they had the good version with the Ewok song. :p
yubsie: (Default)
My Death/Death fic is all happy and posted over at [livejournal.com profile] ewokese. And what an adventure it's been. :p The things that begin at 2 AM and Tess makes me go through with. :p

We're supposed to have a debate tomorrow about whether a certain paper is novel or derivative. Trouble is, none of us understand the paper. It's going to be, as Lachlan is fond of saying, a gong show. :p Our prof is sick, so we're supposed to VIDEOTAPE this debate. It's not going to be pretty. :p

Between that, a guest speaker and my Spec lab, it's going to be a long day tomorrow. :p

Also, conversations with my sister turn into amusing language mishmashes, with such gems as "Kon banwa, meimei" :p (Good evening in Japanese and little sister in Mandarin :p). She has a new motivation to pass her Mandarin test tomorrow. "If JAYNE can speak the language..." :p

Also, I'm starting to think I should just start answering to "Samantha" in Japanese class. :p
yubsie: (Default)
I watched more Doctor Who yesterday. I've now seen up to The Long Game, plus the "Are you my mummy?" episode and The Christmas Invasion. I'm so far behind the rest of the world, but I SHALL catch up!

I also popped in Firefly to watch War Stories and Objects in Space, just to annoy [livejournal.com profile] admiraljello. Because I'm evil like that. :p Tess and I discussed the fact that a lot of Carrot/Angua song also work as Zoe/Wash songs. This doesn't bode well for my OFP, does it? :p

OH, and a meme from [livejournal.com profile] fyredra

1. Comment and I'll tell you what fandom I associate with you.

2. I'll tell you what icon I see on my friends list and know it's you.

3. Post this in your own journal so I can see what you associate with me.
