Dec. 14th, 2008 09:35 pmBack from a fun weekend in Toronto! We watched more BSG with
i_paint_the_sky, finishing up the Kobol arc and seeing up to Final Cut. So I got to know two more Cylons! And apparently there is impending doom.
We also introduced Vicki to the wonders of Classic Who. Though Robot lacks a quarry. :p Still, it introduces Four.
Also, I wonder how much BSG/Doctor Who crossover fic there is that exists solely to pair Cylons with the appropriately numbered Doctor. :p
Oh, and I gave Vicki The Wiz for Christmas, so we watched this. The phrase "acid trip" comes to mind. :p
Also, Vicki is awesome and gave me John Barrowman's autobiography for Christmas. It is shiny and will entertain me on the train ride. As will the other books I bought when she took us to see the store she works at. And Fables 11, which we had to pick up at another store. We'll see if I actually hold out until the train ride with that one. :p

Jun. 5th, 2008 10:35 pmThe Bleach musical? Is kinda awesome. Somehow I don't think the anime goes quite like that? Also, why does everyone hate Orihime, she's cute! I also loved at the end when they were all "Let's sing the songs from the FIRST musical! Ooh, I want to sing! Can I sing?"
I, umm, kinda REALLY want that "DEATH!" song. :p
Working with lithium is also awesome. It involves a HAMMER. You take it out, weigh it into hexanes, pound it flat with a hammer, cut it up with scissors back into hexanes and then get it the HELL under argon. Because this whole time you're also hoping it doesn't CATCH FIRE. (Lithium's not too bad though. At least it's not sodium or potassium. Or those cesium vials we have on a shelf... :p)
Yesterday we had fun melting pipettes with a bunsen burner and stretching them out. Because we needed spotters. Yes. This is why. :p Today I played matchmaker in the broken glassware drawer since we decided we should take the new guys to see the glassblower tomorrow. (This may have started with an incident involving an entire apparatus falling and breaking) We have drawers upon drawers of broken glassware that has been there for years, so I was sitting there going "Okay, we can fix THIS one with THIS piece..." :p

non_horation: I'm a dealer and a gateway drug :p
I was semi-productive this weekend! Kinda. I wrote an outline for my paper that's due on Friday. Next step: Not following it! Why do I bother with outlines? :p
I need to dig up a few more papers on the topic, simply because of the expected number of references. I figure I can look up more stuff for the general intro stuff, because the specific topic is really super recent. But papers have come out on it since I picked the topic, which is cool. :p
Also, my sims are hilarious. Sim Tevye REALLY hates Motel now. Because he HAD to marry Tzeitel. Bielke brought Motel home on the school bus, so I decided I would probably marry him and Tzeitel when ACR inevitably got them woohooing and Tevye could catch them.
Except instead of just woohooing they decided to try for baby. Which WORKED. Even though the lot was full, which was really surprising. So then Motel HAD to marry Tzeitel. Oops. Oh well, it's not like there aren't lines in the musical about "From such children come... other children?" :p
Of course, if Tevye thinks THAT'S bad, he should see what I STOPPED from happening. It turns out that Tzeitel's mom has got it going on. I stopped anything from happening between Motel and Golde, because DUDE. :p
Also, this song is made of pure WIN. :p

Mar. 6th, 2006 12:24 amTess is evil. Very evil. Because... Destiny/Rambaldi OTP. It's so many kinds of wrong. I think I'll go whimper in the corner now.
Today was a fun video game day. I beat Quest for Glory I with my magic user, Neville. It was funny. By the end, it was all "Cheetaur? I KEEL YOU DEAD? Goblin? ACK! RUN AWAY!" Not because goblins are particularly tough. No, simply because they CRASH THE GAME. Why do I always have one character with huge crashy problems?
After that, I started a fighter character. Who I named Swordy. He's kinda fun. The way he gets through puzzles is, well, he solves his problems with violence. Need to get a ring out of a tree? The thief climbs the tree, the magic user casts Fetch and the fighter... the fighter throws rocks at it. :p Plus, he has a sword, which kills things SO much better than a dagger.
I got kinda bored of that though, because I'd already played the basic story recently with Neville. So I installed QfG II and imported Grig (my thief). It's interesting working with a text parser, I must admit. Also, I HATE THE STREETS IN THAT CITY! I am going to be so PERMANENTLY lost. It took me all of the day just to find the money changer so I can actually buy supplies from the merchants.
I also discovered that Avernum 4 is out! :D I don't like the Avernum remakes as much as the original Exile series, but this is still really exciting because there never was an Exile 4. This is all new story! The single most exciting fact is that the creator finally realized that making people pay gold for training was a royal pain. I mean, it added a certain element of realism, but it also added an element of going to the character editor to get more money. :p
Skills ranged in gold cost from 10 for a level of skill with a given weapon to 250 for a level of mage spells. Your average goblin gives around five gold. You have six party members (four in the remakes).
Starting to see the problem?
But now the problem is gone and I am a happy Ewok! :D
Oh, and Goblins finally updated. It was worth the wait, too. DIES HORRIBLY WAS IN IT! DIES HORRIBLY WAS IN IT!
