Not a lot of my costume here, they're all on Nico's camera. Hopefully I can get those from her soon. But there are some! And our totally awesome Project Cosplay dress! And some other cool costumes.

Everyone loves pictures! )

Apparently I never got around to talking about the rest of Anime North. :p The panels on Sunday actually started on time! Mostly. We discovered that the printed schedule given to attendees contradicted itself, much less the one the staff had. Oops? The first panel was about conrunning. I was in AWE of the people running it. They've been running conventions since before the Animaritime staff was BORN. They STARTED Toronto Trek. So much awe.

After that panel, it was time to let the vendor room eat money. There was an evil vendor with t-shirts (in my size, unlike a certain OTHER vendor) which took credit cards. So now I have a "MOnkeys are good people!" tshirt, a "It's fun to use learning for evil!" shirt and a SANDMAN t-shirt. :p

Still sad I can't make it to Polaris. Next year though! (Also, Beyond East, our we're joking we SWEAR Atlantic Canadian science fiction convention keeps getting dangerously closer to not being a joke :p)

The CLAMP panel was great fun. As soon as the Card Captor Sakura dub came up every hand in the room flew up to comment. The panelist's brain broke when I said the best description of what they did I'd ever read was that it was like a Japanese company acquiring the rights to My Little Pony and trying to turn it into a shounen series. Then someone said "My Little Pony yaoi!". Rule 34: Sometimes it's best not to think about it. :p

I finished off in a panel about cosplay makeup. I wound up being able to contribute, which surprised me. (Tips on how to not kill your lips when wearing long wearing lipstick. I know stage makeup! :p)

For the record? Toronto traffic is EVIL. :p

So, ATTENDING an anime convention without having to run it is pretty sweet. :p I can wear costumes without having to worry about being able to move tables! I can decide on a whim to go do something else! I never have to worry about being called out of a panel! And panelists not showing up is SOMEONE ELSE'S PROBLEM.

On that note, WTF Anime North? Every panel I've been to has had panelists show up late (we're talking FORTY MINUTES LATE for an hour panel) or not at all. Yaoi pictionary involved an hour of waiting around for paper to show up. Another panel involved half an hour of waiting to be let in the room. If these were MY staffers there would be BEATINGS.

Still, it's been fun. Yaoi pictionary was particularly entertaining once it got started. The Japanese cooking panel was also really neat.

We wound up heading back to Vicki's early today because I got a headache AND my asthma started to act up. I'd left the drugs for both behind. Feeling better now though. It would have been neat to see the Masquerade, but that was the only thing we really had planned for the evening.

Speaking of costumes, like two people recognized Fire Pretear! It was exciting. No one really recognized Garnet as Garnet, but a lot of people ID'ed the WHite Mage cloak and wanted pictures. Tomorrow I'm planning to just wear the cloak of regular clothes (with SENSIBLE SHOES, oh god walking all the way to the third building in heels is LETHAL). And carry a towel, since it's Towel Day. :p

Also, Vendor Room is dangerous. I now have Gunslinger Girl, some cute pins and a Mokona change purse. :p THere were some really awesome t-shirts that I would have loved, but they didn't bring anything smaller than a men's medium. Apparently small women aren't allowed to go to the dark side for cookies? It was sad, and not a really good business move, because I WANTED to give them money!

I have found my missing shoe! Which would probably mean more to you if I'd mentioned I was missing a shoe in the first place. Packing for Anime North is FUN! :p And I have to take a break from it until my laundry finishes. Which is, uh, now. :p

Okay, now that that's done with. :p

Ryan's great aunt got us a lamp as a wedding gift. This makes me RIDICULOUSLY happy, because we need that lamp greatly. The living room is poorly lit. :p

Is it normal that posts on the Piled Higher and Deeper forum about the uncertainty of the academic profession make me think of my childhood lullabye? :p

Okay, who sets off fireworks at 1:30 AM? Honestly! Some people in the bazillion apartment complexes around here were trying to SLEEP. :p

I have my Anime North costumes all ready to go now. That just leaves Ryan's. :p LUckily, tomorrow is a holidy. Probably won't go into work because I haven't decided what to do next. Other than trying to find an alkyl option... :p I'll stop now. :p

For the record, Discworld!Death doing ballet...

Is like the greatest thing ever )

Also, WTF LAST LIKE MINUTE OF DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES.

Finally managed to register for Anime North. The box just wasn't there. (Let me tell you, if I were designing the registration form... :p)

We got a coffee maker in the lab office. Naturally this led to reorganizing the entire office. :p

I am DONE MARKING! Huzzah!

AND I got to use my fumehood again. Very exciting. :p

Patricia, Lindsay (or Bill, but he doesn't check LJ as often), still need your addresses! :p

Okay, people what have been to Anime North or are going this year, I need your help! The online registration form is defeating me! According to the giant bold red notice, there should be a a text box at the bottom of the "Review Your Payment" page for full names. I'm at the "Review Your Payment" page and... I can't see the box. There's a list of what I'm ordering, big pay button, payment method, shipping address, contact email, another big pay button and then the copyright and such at the bottom. No text box for entering our names.

Since I've been head of registration for Animaritime, I'd really rather not email their poor reg staff if I'm being an idiot and missing the obvious. So I'm asking on LJ! :p
