So, Fables: 1001 Nights of Snowfall finally came out in paperback so I could read it. It was great fun. Especially since the main comic has taken to referring to events contained therein. :p Let me tell you, one particular scene with Frau Totenkinder in The Good Prince suddenly makes a LOT more sense. By which I mean sense at ALL. :p Not to mention adding a layer of meaning to Lance's part of The Good Prince. And filling in Ambrose's background for... The Good Prince. Okay, this collection was really important for The Good Prince. :p

It was really nice art, which is always fun. Also, whoo for backstory! Everyone loves backstory!

I read the latest trade of Fables (I almost typed Twilight. There's a world of difference. :p) And now I know why it took so long. Year long storylines FTW. :p

Happy Canada Day, everyone! (Yes, that includes the non-Canadians. They can have a happy Canada Day too! :p)

And happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] guinastasia!

I've been playing Avernum, which is great fun. My characters need to stop dying though, because they keep losing items when they do so. Like my mage, who lost... his clothing. He got to keep his ring, his gloves and his staff. But not his robe, cloak or PANTS. :p So I had to trudge back through an old dungeon to make him not naked. :p Then my fighter got himself killed. His armor survived (which is good, because steel chainmail isn't cheap :p), as did his pants (yay), but not his boots. So I currently have a barefoot frontline fighter. Oddly, my two female characters haven't died yet, outside of full party destruction. :p

I also finished reading my new comics. Fables 9 and Books of Magic 4. :p I want more! Books of Magic can be done (though I don't think I saw volume 5 at Comic Hunter) Fables... I will have to be patient. I want Fables icons! Too bad I don't have Photoshop on Puck, and my desktop isn't useable since my brother stole the monitor. :p

So, I think I'm coming down with something. I woke up with a headache this morning, and I'm all stuffed up. I missed my last class at Mount A EVER, and had to hop myself up on all sorts of drugs to get through the day. But my grad school application is now mailed!

I also picked up volume 8 of Fables today. Figures a few weeks after I give up and buy volume 7 elsewhere Hobbyton actually gets stuff in. :p It's so shiny!

Cut for spoilerish squee )

I'm now briefly home for the Easter weekend. I got a pleasant surprise when I got on the bus and saw... my sister. :p I didn't realize she was coming home on that bus. :p I was right about to sit next to a random person when she got my attention.

Also, the weather was AWFUL today. Right when I was walking to the bus station, of course. :p I think the precipitation was freezing rain. Something nasty like that, anyway. :p

So my feet? Totally killing me. We did the geek tour of Moncton today. :p It's a tradition to go to Moncton and geek out a couple weeks after the con. This year, with con being IN Moncton, we enjoyed being there with no SCHEDULES. In previous years, we all took the bus down, but this year Bill rented a van for us to drive down in. We started off at Champlain Place/Chapters and scattered from there. Vicki, Ryan and I hit Comic Hunter, Mad City Comics and Gamezilla. And a pet store to get a new collar for Elphaba. :p

I spent a LITTLE more than I meant to, but at least most of it was stuff I was planning to pick up in the near future. The haul/damage:

- Two new tops plus two tank tops to wear under low cut tops (not something I planned on buying, but a good price overall)
- Kingdom Hearts (One of the first games I wanted for my new PS2. I can borrow the Final Fantasy games from Ryan. :p)
- Lego Star Wars (I played it a little bit on my brother's Xbox and it was fun, so I picked it up for PS2. :p)
- Exile (New Star Wars book. Definitely a planned expense because it's an AARON ALLSTON book and if anyone can fix Legacy, it's him!)
- Fables: Arabian Nights (and days) (This is the infamous volume seven I ordered from Hobbyton in JULY. Yeah, they were never going to get it in. :p)
- Full Moon o Sagashite volume 2
- Skip Beat! volume 1 (the preview in Shojo Beat looked interesting
- Tsubasa volume 7
- Good Witch of the West volume 1 (Gamezilla had a buy three manga get one free sale on, and it looked like it might be cute. :p)
- yummy fudge

The sushi place we usually go to on this trip seems to be closed, so we went to a Chinese buffet instead. It was soooooooooo good. The ultimate sign of good food: Our group actually stopped talking because we were too busy EATING. :p

So far I've managed to read the Fables, which was SO SHINY. Frau Totenkinder remains SO awesome while KNITTING! And oh DEAR Beauty. There is going to be an EXPLOSION between her and Beast. And the story about the two wooden people was so CUTE and so WIBBLY and SAD too!

The hardest part will be holding out on buying volume eight. I might order it when the seventh Runaways digest comes out in May. And of course, I want more Lucifer.

I am addicted to North American comics and it's ALL NEIL GAIMAN'S FAULT!

You know your wallet is doomed when you walk into the comic shop and not only do they know your name, they know what you're currently collecting. As in, I walked into Hobbyton and was greeted with "Hi Margaret, your Fables is in! Want me to order the next volume for you?"

I wasn't aware that volume seven was out yet, but it is. And it's on order. :p

Volume six was SO SHINY! It was neat to finally see who The Adversary was. I was pretty sure I had it figured out in volume five, but it was awesome to get it confirmed. Especially considering who it is. :p

Thursday we watched PotC (the first one) because Ryan hadn't seen it. I was, sadly enough, practically falling asleep. I don't know why I'm so bloody TIRED lately.

Shannon and I went to see PotC II last night. It was shiny. Not as good as the first, definite case of bridge syndrome, but who can argue with the sword fight of awesome? Also, I love the undead monkey, I just DO. :p

Tonight I have to sleep on a cot in my sister's room. I have a sinking feeling that I'm going to wish I was on the futon with the cats. :p

I've also been given strict instructions to eat as much ice cream as possible while I'm here. :D

ACK, OMG FABLES! You did NOT just end the volume there! AGAIN!

Volumes five and six are totally going to do this too, aren't they? And then I'll be caught up. Which will be good for me not buying a TPB a week... but bad for my ACK OMG SANITY.

Ahem.

We watched more Firefly today. War Stories and the one after that with Saffron. Wash has finally been confirmed as my favorite character. He's just so AWESOME.

River's a close second though. The pwning! "Jayne's a girl's name."! "I can kill you with my brain."!

Heart Firefly. Heart Fables. Fables evil. :p

I bought volume 3 of Fables today. And I have to say...

OMG Fables. You did NOT just end the volume there. AAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!! NEED MORE OMG!

Let's see if I can actually update, eh? :p

Let's see, Vicki and I watched What Dreams May Come on Saturday night, while having chocolate fondue. That movie... Tess ship. So Tess ship. Except it works out decently in the end, unlike most TEss ships. :p Vicki must be feeling brave. She gave me a big bag of chocolate kisses for my birthday. And a stuffed kiss, which is very cute. :p

Sunday I totally slept through church. Figured I would though. :p I played the Sims a bunch. Hajime and Mannen's rooms are redecorated now. Hajime has an ocean room, and Mannen gets castles and dragons. Shin gets some plants. :p

Ryan called, which is always fun. :D

Vicki and I watched Firefly. I read Fables, because I've seen the first two episodes twice before, but I was still in the room to appreciate the shiny. OMG HEART FABLES, incidently. :D It's SO COOL! It totallly had me going "DID THAT JUST HAPPEN?" at one point, which is always exciting.

Started work today. Steve's letting us pick our own projects this year, which is neat. The one I'm doing is based on the WTF product from a couple years back. It's the most bioactive compound the lab has ever made, and it was totally not what they were TRYING to make at the time.

And before my chemistry talk makes you all stop reading...

QotD!

[livejournal.com profile] melonriel: i kind of missed you doing vile and evil things :-P

Free comic day= happy shiny sales at Hobbyton= Yubsie buying volumes one and two of Fables :D

[livejournal.com profile] neekabe, I picked up Dream Country and Season of Mists for you. Do you want me to mail those to you, or can you wait until September? :p The store owner's daughter will probably be sad. I got her interested in the series, so she read the first two volumes last night. :p

Anyway, obviously, I am back in the Sack now. :p
