I'm finally getting the data I've been trying to get since March! It isn't arcing, it's spinning normally and there is SIGNAL! I am... probably a little more excited than I should be.

There is a moth in the room. Medi is going nuts.

Oh, speaking of the cats, when we first adopted Schroedy, she was terrified of thunderstorms. If she heard thunder she would run and hide in the closet until it was over. But the other day it was storming and she was just lazing around. So that's good!

Yeah... this is what passes for excitement in my life. :p

Last night's Who gave some good icon fodder, but wasn't flaily enough to get a flail post. Still, eager for conclusion, especially since I didn't realize it was a two parter. Still love Eleven and Amy and Rory!

Also, we couldn't find Schroedinger today. We were looking all over the house, looking in suitcases and cupboards. I even checked if she'd gotten outside somehow even though BOTH cats will just look at the door if we leave it wide open. We asked Archimedes where Schroedy was and she hopped up into the top drawer of my dresser. Naturally, we ignored her.

Eventually Ryan started opening the drawers of my dresser even though there was no logical way she could have gotten in there.

Apparently that didn't stop her, because we found her in the middle drawer. She was... less than impressed. :p

We adopted a second kitty today. Her name is Archimedes and she's about a year old. We initially wanted a kitten, but at least she's known to be good with other cats and she's still pretty young so they should both adjust okay. She's also known to be good with kids, which is important considering this cat is going to be in our lives for quite some time. Schroedy got into the guest room when we were bringing Meddy in. They were initially both pretty calm but then there was some hissing and growling, which is really to be expected. So for now we're keeping Meddy in the guest room until they get used to hearing and smelling each other through the door.

And of course, a picture )

We got a notice from the city about failure to renew a dog license. Obviously this was actually meant for Laura, and indeed we got it all straightened out with a quick phone call to tell them she'd moved. While I was at it, I got them to fix the spelling of my last name, which had been wrong since we got Schroedy. And had them change Schroedy's name from Alice to what the vet actually has on record. Apparently Schroedinger is a "Oh LORD, I'm going to have to ask you to spell that" worthy name. :p

The major fallout of this is of course that we are now addressing Schroedy as "Puppy". She doesn't think this is as funny as we do. :p

(Also, I need an icon of Schroedy :p)

I think Schroedy likes this costuming hobby of mine. She is currently sleeping on the fabric. The white fabric, of course, as her fur wouldn't show up NEARLY as well on the blue. I'm pretty sure I don't have to cut anything more from the white though.

This is a Water Pretear costume for Anime North. Which is in two weeks. I started the costume today. Because I am THAT AWESOME. It's going pretty decently though. I have the basic shape of the bodice down. Though I need to figure out how to actually do it up in the back, as the art explanation is "It's all one piece, screw physics". I'm not sure I have enough slack to do velcro, so I may try making it lace up. I also have the underskirt done, it just needs to be hemmed. Though I want to be sure the back is done up properly because I try hemming it, I think.

So that just leaves the detailing and the overskirt. Hemming the overskirt is going to take forever. This may not have been a wise costume considering I hate hemming. Oops.

My laptop keyboard has more or less given out. The letter keys have gotten wonky in addition to the missing Ctrl and F5. So I decided it was time for a USB keyboard. All I could find at Best Buy was a roll up one. I tried it. The keys wobble and it's clearly meant for someone who types more slowly than I do. So I returned that and went to future shop and now have a proper keyboard. The only tricky thing now is positioning it so I can still use the trackpad. :p

I has my kitty back! She missed us terribly. And still hates her carrier. Ryan opened her cage at the kennel and she jumped out and started nuzzling him. Then the kennel lady brought out her carrier and she jumped back into the cage. She proceeded to whine the entire way home. It occurred to us that maybe she's afraid that when we put her in her carrier we're going to abandon her like her last owners did (aka the SOULLESS ONES :p) She seemed to calm down an AWFUL lot when we were bringing her towards our building. :p

And I now have Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor because Schroedy was almost out of food. Chapters is right next to PetSmart and they were EVENTUALLY able to track down the nine copies in the back room. Along with "Hey, look at all these other ones that have come out recently! Let's put those on the shelf too!" (I had thought it was odd that I didn't see Millenium Falcon there, but figured maybe it had sold out)

I'm not far in, but what I've read has been BRILLIANT. THIS is what Star Wars books are supposed to feel like!

Kitty is making up for missed cuddles. :p

So, I think most of you have noticed that I hate shoe shopping. Unfortunately, I needed new shoes. And by needed I mean the sole was cracked and water was seeping in every time it rained. So needed. :p Of course, so many stores FAIL. Are boots without heels so much to ask for? You know, boots that have traction? Eventually I found something that worked at Sears. Also, it was raining, so I had to put a plastic bag inside my shoe so I wouldn't be trying on shoes with a wet sock. Because that would be icky.

Schroedy is very happy I got new shoes, because she gets the BOX.

I consoled myself about the whole shoe shopping thing by buying geeky things. The SJA DVDs are only made of SILVER and diamonds, so I splurged on them. Because it's SJA!

One of the pet stores provides space for rescues to adopt their cats rather than sell cats themselves, so I felt okay going through them. So now I have a kitty trying to help type. She's four or five years old. The thing that really drew us to her was how playful she was. And that she likes scritches. :p

We're calling her Schroedinger. :p Though after the saga of "How can we not find the cat? We have a ONE BEDROOM APARTMENT?" we considered Heisenberg. :p She was going a little nuts exploring at first, but has since calmed down. :p

Which is why she's now lying on my lap and purring. :p And, uh, rolling her head onto my computer. :p
