Ryan: I want this song. *plugs in MP3 player*
Me: Okay. Do you want "Geek Like Me" while I'm at it?
Ryan: I have it.
Me: You do? Where did you get it?
Ryan: From you!
Me: That's impossible, I only got it recently.
Ryan: I'm sure you gave it to me.
Me: No, I gave you "Geeks In Love", there's a difference.
Yes. I have multiple geek love songs. Is anyone actually surprised?

Apr. 5th, 2011 11:50 pmAftter... o_O a year and a half or so of searching, I finally managed to find a Wes Janson action figure! He came with two pilots I never heard of, but I have him! And that's certainly better than Wedge coming with Fey'lya.
As I was putting him up on the shelf of nerdery, it dawned on me that almost none of my action figures are on the same scale. Even within the same franchise, there are no guarantees. Hobbie can definitively tell Wes and Wedge that his (gun, of course) is bigger.
Not that it matters, since Bill Adama dwarfs them all. :p

Sep. 10th, 2010 10:20 pmSometimes being in two different research groups can be annoying. Like weeks when I end up having to give group meeting in both groups. Which seems like it would be fine except they use completely different formats.
Sometimes, though, it can be awesome. Kim took us out to lunch so we could say goodbye to our summer student (he's not going FAR, but he's starting grad school in a different group) and welcome our new exchange student. I got back from that and found an email from Yining saying that since his group has four new students, we should go out for drinks at the grad club.
One of Yining's new students is into science fiction, so we had lots of fun geeking out. I'm sure the others were confused by our discussion of whether the Cylons actually had a plan. But we had fun. (We agreed that the plan was: 1. Nuke the Colonies 2. Chase remaining humans 3. ??? 4. PROFIT!) And he's sad he didn't know about FanExpo. :p

Jul. 13th, 2009 12:12 amSo as you can see, I am not camping. This is due to the fact that Google maps is made of fail. We got epically lost and couldn't even find a gas station with employees to ask for directions. So we decided that since we were definitely closer to home than the campground, we would just say "frak it". Especially since by that point it was so late I wasn't sure the park office would be open. My only real concern is that the people we were meeting are probably going to be worried about us.
In happier, con news, I came in second in the Geek Off championship! I was sure I was going to do terribly, since I didn't know Buffy or Stargate. My plan for any Stargate question was to answer "Daniel Jackson." Fortunately, every time I asked for an outside question, they gave me Doctor Who/Torchwood or Doctor Horrible. Which I actually know. :p
Greatest moment of the Geek Off championship had to be when I was asked who runs the Evil League of Evil. After I answered Bad Horse, the ENTIRE ROOM started singing "Letter from Bad Horse". It was COMPLETELY AWESOME.
And I got Michael Hogan's autograph. And more importantly, I got to shake his hand. I decided I was too poor to spring for MIchelle Forbes though.

Random thing that Vicki came up with when we were discussing Deathly Hallows. Obviously, Death in the fairytale can't really be Death, since she's too nice and all that. But it makes perfect sense if it's DESIRE disguised as Death. Really, the brothers get what they desire. And look where it gets them. :p

Jun. 4th, 2007 12:55 amHmm, I think I'll do a random ramble post. :p
I went to look at bridesmaid dresses the other day. I have a few ideas, but am definitely going to look at NOT a bridal shop to come up something my poor bridesmaids can actually afford. I do feel the need to mention one particularly HEINOUS dress I saw. It was fuschia and had multi-colour beading all over the bodice. THe skirt had a meshy overlay with random sequins. And it was FUSCHIA. Oh, and $300. Bad taste knows no price limit. :p
I actually bought Sacrifice. I debated it, but eventually caved if only because I need to see how such a major development plays out. I'm not very far yet though. I'm currently in the first of what I'm sure will be MANY Pointless Mandalorian Interludes. I wish the Mandalorians would stay in the prequel era where they actually FIT. Oh EU, sometimes I wish I could quit you. :p
I want to kill Winnie the Pooh, and Tigger too! The Hundred Acre Wood seriously has the most EVIL minigames I've ever seen. Tigger's involved these RIDICULOUS jumps. If I wanted to play a platformer, I wouldn't be playing an RPG here! :p
I went to see Pirates again on Saturday, since Shannon hadn't seen it yet. It was great to see Shannon again, and the movie was just as fun the second time around. And I know longer feel like I need a chart to follow some of it. :p
My family are all such geeks. My brother and I actually had a conversation about "Gee, I knew I should have put some skillpoints into the lockpicking skill." "I gave myself the skill, but I forgot to equip myself with lockpicks!" We managed to lock the bathroom door with all of us outside it. We knew the lock COULD be picked, because my sister accidently picked it with a sucker when she was seven. It just took us a while to find the appropriate sized implement. :p

Mar. 18th, 2007 10:27 amSo, yesterday I had to change because I realized I was dressed RIDICULOUSLY inappropriately. I put on my Animaritime staff shirt and a few minutes later remembered that it was Saint Patrick's Day. Needless to say I changed out of the ORANGE and into something green. Of all the colours, I was wearing ORANGE. :p Other than that all I did about the fact that it was Saint Patrick's Day was put together an Irish Rovers playlist, because it wouldn't be Saint Patrick's Day otherwise. :p
We had our crazy post-convention staff meeting on Saturday, which was an adventure. They gave awards to all the graduating staffers.
What does it say that an anime convention gave me the "Ultimate Geek" award? :p
Also, my foreign language showtune addiction continues. I mean, how could I resist Fiddler on the Roof in YIDDISH? (Next I clearly need to get Les Mis in French. Which I would, y'know, actually UNDERSTAND. :p)

Mar. 8th, 2007 12:26 pmFirst off, yesterday's Order of the STick made me die laughing! Titanium elementals! Because SOME of us got a passing grade in chem.
Umm, yeah, hopeless chemistry geek here!
I actually did my presentation this morning. I think it went well. I correctly predicted the first question I got asked! "Why does your question slide say 42?"
Because I'm a huge GEEK, that's why. :p
Also, I'm horribly addicted to foreign language musicals. I downloaded Les MIserables in Swedish last night, and it's so awesome. :p
Also awesome are the shows Tess sent me the soundtracks of on Monday night. Zombie Prom, which sounds a lot like Grease, with a dash of Footloose in the plot. ANd of course zombies. Everything is better with zombies. :p
The other one is an off-Broadway production called [Title of Show], which I knew just from the TITLE would be awesome. It's a musical about two guys writing a musical about two guys writing a musical about two guys writing a musical. :p So I'm going to go through my favourite songs now! :p
Opening Song: This song starts "A, E, D, F sharp! Those are the first notes of our show" Yeah, this is about where I fell in love, why do you ask? :p
Two Nobodies in New York: Starts "What if this dialogue were set to music? What if these things could be said in a song? Hey that's pretty good, I think we can use it. Music in a musical, how could we go wrong?" (Have I mentioned I love songs ABOUT musicals? See: "The Song That Goes Like This" from Spamalot. :p)
Die Vampire, Die: The vampires in question are everything that tries to squash creativity. Thus they need to die. :p
Secondary Characters: I LOVE this song. Probably my favourite song EVER. I've been looking for a song like this ever since I made that Sailor Star Crack EP last November. :p It's the secondary characters singing about how they don't often get a chance to be in the spotlight. Favourite line? "The secondary characters are singing a song, while the stars are snacking off stage!" I think this is getting incorporated into the House Cup as a Ravenclaw song. :p It ends with the leads coming in and being all "Umm, wtf are you doing?"
I am SUCH a musical geek. :p

Take me out- Aww!- To the Black...
Dec. 3rd, 2006 12:28 amI have the greatest boyfriend EVER.
Two years ago today (well, yesterday now that midnight's passed), Vicki and I decided that if Ryan was going to eat lunch with us on a regular basis, he should see Pretear so he could understand our conversations. Vicki eventually had to leave for class, but he stuck around my room a little while longer to watch some more. And, well, this turned out to be one of the better decisions I made in my life, since he randomly kissed me and we've been together since then.
Anyway, the point is that for our anniversary, he gave me a rose, nerds, smarties, a giant pixie stick and dinosaurs. DINOSAURS! My computer monitor is now This Land. :p
I have the greatest boyfriend EVER. :p
I gave him homemade cookies (a new recipe experiment, chocolate chocolate chip :p), the first two episodes of Doctor Who, a mix CD and two hours of my time. Considering what time of year it is, that's the most precious thing in the UNIVERSE. :p We sandwiched dinner in between my day of hammering out Spectroscopy lab reports and the Animaritime staff meeting. There's something vaguely amusing about changing into a little black dress in the bathroom of the chemistry building. :p
Campus security is STUPID, so we had our meeting in the hall outside of the locked classroom. This meant we also had to have the party in the hall, so it didn't go long. But I did start learning the Munchkin dances, so yay! I think I will be able to learn them in time to be a Munchkin, so yay!
I got home and Sam was watching Moulin Rouge to try to figure out her paper, so I joined her while working on my Quantum paper. I got to help with the paper by finding elements that parallel other musicals. I like helping her with papers for that class. :p
Karate grading tomorrow.

Oct. 6th, 2006 12:54 pmThe debate yesterday was pretty unpleasant. We managed to talk as long as we were supposed to, but I felt like our arguments were pretty weak. It would have been SO much easier to be arguing that the paper was novel, seeing as we've never seen anything like it and attempts to search the literature were less than fruitful. :p
Grey's Anatomy night with Lily, Maria and McGeek was great fun again. Afterwards, we watched Star Trek vids on YouTube and generally geeked it up. I now have a powerful desire to watch TNG, which is unfortunate, since we don't actually get a station that airs it. But it's Thanksgiving, and my parents get Space, so I may get to catch some this weekend. :p
Hi, my name is Margaret and I'm a geek. :p
Having a roommate from the same hometown is useful, incidently. I'm getting a ride back to Riverview with Sammy's family. Am I packed yet? Of course not! :p
The plan for tonight is to introduce Kate to Firefly, which is always fun. :D Then Fundy with my family on Saturday and at some point I shall hopefully do some schoolwork. :p Oy, this is a much needed long weekend. :p
And yes, this song is an attempt to wake myself up before Quantum. :p

Dec. 4th, 2005 09:24 pmDid a fair bit of Organic studying today. I still feel like I'm drowning, but I did a fair bit of studying. I worked some problems. Sucks that I won't be able to pass them in to see if they were right or not, but at least it had me looking over synthesis stuff. Tomorrow he has help sessions every other hour, so I'll probably head in to campus and camp out in the Cragg in between.
While studying, I watched the second episode of Firefly, which was great fun. Still not a clear favorite character yet, but I'm enjoying it. After that, I watched the first episode of Dead Like Me, which was also great fun. I'm starting to think I'm slightly morbid though. :p Finally I watched a couple episodes of the Ewok cartoon. Which was cute and cheesy and EWOKS. :p
Right about then, Vicki got back from her karate grading, so we decorated our Christmas tree. Which involved rearranging the living room because we didn't have an extension cord for the lights. What? Why would we have an extension cord? Our tree is VERY geeky, and looks utterly awesome. It all started with deciding to put Yuto (from X) as the topper because he looked like a Christmas tree ornament in the first episode when he stood on the tree. THen Vicki decided she wanted to put ornaments of all her RPG characters. So I decided I was putting the Endless on it. Death and Despair SO don't belong on a Christmas tree. But it looks AWESOME. We got to trim the tree with attention to which characters were allowed to be near each other. Things like whether they HATE each other, and then things like no mopey characters being allowed near Dream. :p
The most HILARIOUS part of it all is that I almost couldn't find the Destruction ornament. He ran away!
We also watched A Muppet Christmas Carol. ANd noted that the Ghost of Christmas Present looks like Destruction. This gave us EVIL ideas that only crazy people get. :p

Oct. 17th, 2005 11:38 amI am currently eating a roast beef and chocolate icing sandwich. This was not my initial plan, in case any of you are wondering if I've finally COMPLETELY lost it. I just happen to be a total clutz. I was bringing my lunch over to my desk when I dropped the sandwich and cake. I caught them, but they still made contact and there was definite icing transfer. :p
We have cake because we are geeks. Yesterday was Shin's birthday. OBVIOUSLY he needed a cake. We even had candles and party hats. We propped up his profile in the manga on the table so we would have something to sing to. Vicki and I demonstrated that between the two of us, we are perfectly capable of blowing out six candles. So Shin gets his wish. Which we assume was "To get better!", thereby explaining the ending of the manga. :p
For the record, it's a d*mn good cake. Despite my only succeeding on separating three out of four eggs. :p Also, it's REALLY obvious that my copy of The Joy of Cooking is really old. It assumes all the readers are female and keeps talking about how "Every housewife should be able to..." This led to us concluding Bree probably has the same edition of the book I do. :p
This weekend, I totally failed at getting up. I was going to go to the lab on Saturday morning, but I woke up with a bit of a headache, so I decided to go back to sleep. Then on Sunday I honestly tried to get up for church, but I fell asleep when I sat down on the bed to get changed. When I woke back up, it was 9:30, so that didn't work particularly well. :p
In G&G, we did "It's Girly Time!" (aka "Many a New Day") on Saturday, which was a bit tricky but I was starting to get it by the end. Which is good, because I have to show it to Sammy before Classics today. :p On Sunday, we did "The Farmer and the Cowman", which is fun because we get to do-si-do. The little girls have an absolutely ADORABLE dance in it. :p
