Computational is SUPER boring. And I can't set up any lab stuff, since I'm leaving tomorrow.

So I'm on LJ. And RPing from work. Because I'm waiting for jobs to finish running.

I'm also technically supervising our undergrad, since no one else is here. (Well, Jiacheng is in the other office, but that's in the addition)

She has instructions to scream really loudly if anything blows up or catches fire. Which hopefully won't happen, since we've already had the fire alarm go off ONCE today. :p

We know not a drill, since there were firetrucks (plus, they don't tend to have drills in the summer). We're thinking not construction, since they don't usually bring in so much equipment when it's construction tripping an alarm by accident. Plus, all the construction is in the biology building, and they didn't go into alarm. (Chemistry and B&G are physically connected, but for some reason, one being on fire doesn't necessarily mean the other gets evacuated :p)

So we figure small fire, chemical spill or... toaster. Since they did let us back in eventually. I'm sure we'll get a Health and Safety email about it soon enough. :p

Did you know that sims can set the stove on fire and STILL have a Roof Raiser party? They can! I guess fires are so run of the mill for sims. :p

Also, wedding parties work a bit better when you pay attention to BOTH work schedules. So that it doesn't go "kiss the bride--> bride spins into work clothes--> bride runs to work without cutting the cake". Oops.

This all because poor Jason is FINALLY out of limbo. I shipped him off to university when Christopher and Theresa hit toddler. Next time I play Inara's house/the orphanage, Christopher and Theresa are getting sent to university. :p Well, I did play that house a bit today, but it was to send Inara on a Far East vacation to start learning all the massages. :p

I've always had a knack for excitement happening when I go away for a couple days. In the past, this has been limited to things blowing up on the internet. No more though. Ryan and I went to his grandmother's cottage and downtown Sackville caught fire.

I thought his mother was joking when I came to breakfast Saturday morning and she told me that "Sackville burned down last night!". Of course, I also thought Phil was joking when he told me the World Trade Center had been hit by an airplane on September 11. :p

I haven't been in to town to see the damage myself yet, but just looking at the photos on Will's blog is pretty stunning.

You don't realize how many apartments can fit overtop of a few businesses until something like this happened. Hard to believe this fire managed to take out 32, but it did and it's just awful.

On happier things, the trip to the Miramichi was a blast. We did a ridiculously evil jigsaw puzzle that I want to BURN. Ryan and I DESTROYED his mother and grandmother and Taboo. It's much easier to avoid the forbidden words when you can just make fandom comparisons left right and centre. (For Pirate "Captain Jack Sparrow!", for Stupid "Jayne is very...") They were starting to feel bad for this Jayne person who was in so many clues. :p After that we played Boggle, which was HARD because it only allowed four letter words! Then we played some crazy world travel game where it took me FOREVER to get from the Phillipines to Japan despite them being two squares apart because the weather kept screwing me over. :p We ended with Scattegories, which was really fun even if O is, like, the worst letter EVER. :p

Vicki and I watched The Incredibles today, which is very fun. No capes!
