It took a couple tries, but we managed to see Romeo and Juliet. :p We tried to go yesterday with Lindsay and Bill, but it was raining. So we went to every theatre in town trying to find the rain location. :p We eventually did find it, only to discover that oops, the show had sold out.

So we decided we'd go back to Moncton to catch a movie. Except we got to the theatre in between two rushes of showtimes, so that didn't work. We wound up going and renting Tron. I'd never seen it before, so I just raised my Geek Test score. :p It's a very fun movie. :D

I also bought a pretty pink Nintendo DS. And Pokemon Pearl. My sister had been playing one of the new Pokemon games, and it looked really fun, so I'm giving it a try. There's a bunch of other games I want too, but I am teh poor. :p

Today we did see the play, and it was quite well done. Even if the actors sword fight like Leafe Knights. :p I got to hear about the interesting challenges of doing Shakespeare outdoors. Namely that corpses can't swat mosquitos. :p My friend said it was the most self control he'd ever had to exert. :p R&J is definitely not my favourite of Shakespeare's plays, but it was still a good production. :p

I also got to tell Sammy about the reception theme and ask her to be a bridesmaid. She was really excited about both. :p

And now sleep. :p

So, kinda sick of saying "Hi, I saw out front that you're hiring?" :p I went to the mall and applied at a bunch of stores. Including a kids' clothes store, which led to a lot of jokes about "Ooh, and you can wear the clothes!" from my family. Loving family I have. :p

This was AFTER the madness that is Free Comic Book Day. Or as I like to call it "Evil sale day" :p I was MOSTLY good! I bought the first volume of the FMA manga, volume two of Books of Magic and volume four of Lucifer. None for full price? Yeah, I need a job. :p

I also ran into [livejournal.com profile] seryan, which is always exciting and random. :p

This evening we went to see The Choir of Misfits, an amusing musical put on by a new community theatre group. I got to gawk at all the shiny things they've done to the high school theatre since I left. :p

I've decided that McDonald's is like dwarf bread. There's always going back to McDonald's! Just like there's ALWAYS the dwarf bread. :p

Well, I've made it back to Riverview. SOMEHOW all my stuff fit into the van. Not entirely sure how, but it did. :p

We went to see West Side Story at MacNaughton tonight. (Apparently every high school in town is doing their show THIS WEEKEND, so I can't see Nunsense at my old high school or The Fantastiks at MHS. This strikes me as a bad idea seeing as the theatre kids from the other schools are usually a fairly significant audience :p)

It was a really fantastic performance. I was particularly impressed with the NUMBER of guys and the talent level of said guys. They actually had enough males to play all the Jets and Sharks, and no one stood out as clearly ONLY having gotten a speaking role due to being male. "Gee, Officer Krupke" had some decidedly impressive acrobatics in it. :p

The girl who played Maria was absolutely FANTASTIC. She was SO adorable in the first act that I wasn't sure how she would pull off the second act. Turns out that I shouldn't have worried. :p She had this amazing talent for creating an emotional connection.

WHich brings us to my "I think I may be turning into a sap" point. :p I, uh, kinda almost cried during "Somewhere". I think it was just the utter earnestness of Tony and Maria while the entire cast was doing amazing harmonies behind them that just hit something. WOW though.

The only real noticeable flaw was that the microphone set up kinda hindered the choreography. Some of the solos really should have had people moving around more were handicapped by the actor having to stand in front of the microphone and only move to the next microphone on the music in between verses.

Still, that doesn't change the fact that it was an AMAZING show.

So, Floralie was absolutely fantastic. The plot even made sense, which is a big change from a lot of Tintamar productions. It's about a woman who left her tiny village for the big city and is now going back to do a live special. It features cynical people in the village and naive people from the big city, which confused the chorus!

The chorus was one of my favourite parts of the play, as a longtime chorus member myself. THey start out by demonstrating that they DO in fact have distinct personalities (because the chorus always DOES have an assortment of characters with elaborate lives). I'm biased, since Sam is like a little sister to me, but my favourite chorus member was definitely Frivole, the chorus girl who kept trying to get too many lines. She also kept acquiring every exciting costume piece that got discarded with glee. :p The part that amused me the most about Frivole is the way she shouted "GO CHORUS!" after mass lines. :p

The entire cast is very animated. Which is important, because more than half the show is in French. Ryan still managed to follow what was going on even though he's unilingual. A lot of people who do know French find the switching confusing, but I'm from New Brunswick. I speak English and French, frequently at the same time. :p

So yeah, I definitely recommend all you Sackville people try to get to this show. I know I only really talked about Frivole, but the whole cast is fantastic.

Other than the play, I've been studying for my midterm tomorrow. I did most of the old midterm, but then I, uh, got bored with one of the questions. Still, nothing I can't handle. Assuming I use the key words he wants to hear for the theory questions, I should be fine.

Total number of invites to "So and So for Valedictorian" Facebook groups: 3
Number I have actually joined: 0

It's just so AWKWARD, I apparently know a lot of people who are running. :p

Had a touch of a migraine today, but it's passed. It was problematic when I was supposed to be listening to presentations in Computational today. Oh well, I'll live.

Inorganic midterm tomorrow, so happy fun study time. Fortunately, most of it is fairly hands on stuff, and I did fine on the relevant assignments. What theory there is, we covered in much more depth in Spectroscopy last semester, so I can answer any questions he might ask in WAY more detail than I need to. :p

Tonight I'm going to go see Floralie, which is a billingual play and should be interesting. One of my roommates is performing in it.

Also, I love this song SO much more in French than English! It's one that had considerable changes between languages. In English, it's Little People. The French version is all "I fell to the ground. It's Voltaire's fault!"

Cabaret was FANTASTIC. Dark and disturbing, but really fantastic. The ending was really effectively staged. And there was a Tess ship, with all the cuteness and doom that entails. POor Snippy didn't know going in that it was set during the rise of the Nazi party, so she was all distraught. :p

Oh, and excitingly, I understood most of the German announcements in the train scenes. Because one of the things I can very much do in German is talk about trains! :p

Just getting to the show was a saga in itself though. Vicki and I were supposed to meet at the theatre. I assumed that she was bringing both tickets, since I didn't know where they were. Except, she didn't know I didn't know, so she left my ticket on the fridge when she left so I wouldn't freak out about trying to find the tickets. The end result was me RUNNING home and back to get the ticket so I could actually, y'know, get in. :p

Hmm, well the original plan was to see Twelfth NIght with Vicki, but it looks like the only performances left are this afternoon and next Sunday. Next Sunday is out because it's the long weekend, so I guess I'll have to go without her this afternoon. ANy Sackville people up for joining me? Two o'clock at the Swan Pond!

I am so HILARIOUSLY sleep deprived right now. Last night, we went over to [livejournal.com profile] nukichan's to watch Escaflowne. In its ENTIRETY. We finished around 6:30 AM, so by the time I got home, I had been up for 24 hours. Well, more or less. I half napped during some of the episodes. I think I'll have to re-watch the last episode, because my powers of wakefulness were less than 1337 by then. Still, it was crazy mad fun! We should totally do it again sometime. Though starting earlier or watching a shorter series. :p

Much love for teh Escaflowne.

Before that, we went to see the multilingual presentation of Antony and Cleopatra. It was a spiffy little production. And now I finally understand why we kept hearing people singing Barrett's Privateers. :p
