I installed a CD drive today. Because apparently I'm the only person in our lab willing to deal with the computer stuff. It works though! Now if only that wasn't our temp computer until the shiny new one shows up. Oh well, I'll try to get it online anyway. If I can find the cable in the JUMBLED MESS under the desk. I spent so much time crawling down there dealing with power cords that did not want to come out.

This may have involved a lot of "MotherFRAKKER!" Ah, technology. :p

Also, I am so sick of meetings about TAing. They are eating my time! As is the fact that all the computer stuff keeps falling to me.

Dear Windows Update:

The familiar browser I am most comfortable with? Is not Internet Explorer. That was AWFULLY presumptuous of you.

NO LOVE,

I am currently talking to my brother on MSN. We are in the SAME ROOM. How ridiculous is that?

Computers hate me today, incidently. I exchanged my copy of Pets for the last copy Walmart had. I got home and tried to install it only to discover it had the same "Disc 2 is actually Happy Holiday Stuff" problem as before. So I decided to email EA's customer support about the fact that obviously an entire shipment was borked. Except Firefox wouldn't work. And neither would evil nasty bad IE.

So I emailed them from my mother's computer and wrestled with my connection for a while. Didn't get connected, played Sims. Had supper, wrestled with connection, didn't get connected, played Sims. WRestled with connection, didn't get connected, was summoned to go fix my mother's connection. Except nothing was actually WRONG with her connection, I'd just logged her out so I could send my email and she'd bookmarked the wrong URL and therefore got gibberish and didn't think to look at the URL. She didn't care about MY connection problems once I'd fixed her "problem" even though SHE'S the one who set up the network and therefore is probably better equipped to fix my problem. Wrestled with my connection more. Did a system restore.

Internet Explorer now works. Firefox still doesn't. IE is icky bad yucky, reinstalled Firefox. Firefox still doesn't work.

So now I'm trying out Opera because Firefox doesn't work and IE is evil. :p

BUT we're going to the wedding tomorrow and that will be happiness. :D

So, I'm other-home for a few days. Not long, since I need to go back to Sackville to do schoolwork and con stuff, but a few days. Of course, I brought schoolwork with me, but some of this requires school resources. The puppy seems to be quite happy I'm here though. :p

I also realized that none of the computers here can open the format my thesis is saved in. Oops. :p I guess I could write some stuff in Word and hope the formatting doesn't EXPLODE when I transfer to WordPerfect.

In exciting news, I bought a new mouse today. Of course, since it's for MY computer, I'm not sure how well it works yet. :p I also bought a birthday present for Vicki. Look how prepared ahead of time I am! :p

Now if only I could transfer that to my schoolwork. MY THESIS IS DUE IN LESS THAN A MONTH! We are now banned from the lab, so I spent yesterday cleaning out old samples. I went from four boxes to two. :p The golden rule of parents interacted nicely with the golden rule of chemistry. The chemistry one is "It doesn't matter what you're doing, be it running NMRs, putting on a reaction, filtering an isolation or just cleaning glassware, it will ALWAYS take longer than you think." Fortunately, the parent one is "They will ALWAYS be late for pick up/drop off", so I still got home before Sam's dad got there to drive us back to Riverview. ;p

Oh, and I found the migraine medication that had wandered off. :p

Hmm, mother's laptop is even weirder than sister's. The background of everything is white. :p

Sister leaves for university tomorrow. How weird is THAT?
yubsie: (Default)
How peculiar. My sister's laptop won't display any of the buttons on the Ravenclaw boards. Which means I can't reply or post or any of that somewhat useful stuff. :p

Chapters and Coles didn't have Bloodlines yet, which makes me a sad Ewok. I guess I'll try to pick it up from Tidewater when I get back to Sackville. :p

I wonder how much convincing it would take to get Gwen to let me put some sort of IM program on this thing...

Picked up a birthday present for [livejournal.com profile] nukichan since that's kinda coming up and all. :p I also bought a cute shir and some new jeans.

HAHA! SISTER NOW HAS FIREFOX ON THIS THING!

Turns out the reason she was being difficult was that she didn't know how to install it. :p

We're watching The Incredibles and playing "What scene of Star Wars is THIS from?" :p

And I have the Playstation all packed up to drop off at the house on the way to PEI tomorrow, yay. Also a bunch of Price Club groceries. :p

And happy birthday Hannah!

Bill is TOTALLY King of Men. He made our router work again! :D

Hee, that rhymed!

Okay, sometimes computing services is useful. A ten minute response time? That's gotta be some sort of record. AND they bumped my quota all the way from 30 MB to 100 MB!
yubsie: (Default)
Hey, [livejournal.com profile] nukichan? Any chance you could pick me up a cheap USB key at Walmart before you come up this weekend? I'll give you the money for it when you get here. It's not a big deal if you can't do it, but it would make my saving life easier.

Because M drive quotas suck. I can't work on my thesis right now because I've been read-onlyed for using up too much space and have nowhere else to save to. I emailed computing services for more space, but of course they work slacker hours so I won't get more space today. :p

(Yes, I arrange everything over Livejournal. How dorky is that? :p)

Sometimes, Yahoo can be a real pain. SPecifically, when I want to check my email and it won't let me. Grr at that. :p

I watched the first four episodes of the Soul Music cartoon, which was great fun. I hearts my Discworld. Made Ryan watch the first episode with me. He was shocked that the Disc was actually... a disc. Apparently, he thought it was just a name. :p

My stuff still isn't in at Hobbyton. Bwar to that. :p

I actually finished reading Theogeny. It picked up quite a bit once Hesiod stopped invoking the muses and got around to creating the world. :p
