I love your Canadian jokes. They delight me. Except the punchline to your "Robin burned supper" joke didn't really work.

Canadians don't set their ovens in Celcius.

Baking in Fahrenheit! Weather in Celsius (unless you're over 55)! Fabric widths in Imperial, lengths in Metric. And don't even get started on weights (my favourite is how the meat is priced per lb, but labeled per kg). It's our cultural shibboleth ;)

It also just occurred to me that if she thought the oven was in Celcius, the food would have been UNDER cooked. :p

No, it'd be over. If the temp was supposed to be 350F and she set it to 350C that'd be 662F... I think?
But there is the illogic of ovens don't go that high.

The exact wording was "I thought the oven was in Celcius", so presumably she thought the food was supposed to go in at 180 C and she set it to 180 F... but ovens don't go that low either.

We buy the ingredients in metric, but we do our actual cooking in Imperial still. We also measure the distance to the grocery store in metric but the height of the person driving there in Imperial. :p

I had no idea of this. None at all. I just assumed it was all metric. Canada is a land of MYSTERY.

I suspect when it comes to cooking, it's probably at least partly because most recipe books on our shelves are American. :p

I noticed that it would be undercooked but I didn't know you lot don't use C ovens. Although the recipe books being American makes sense ...

My oven has Celcius markings in smaller print under the Fahrenheit ones, but those aren't the ones I use. I don't understand Fahrenheit until it gets into the realm of oven temperatures. :p
