Meme from [livejournal.com profile] thepodsquad!

Comment on this post. I'll choose seven userpics from your profile and you'll reply here, explaining what they mean and why you're using them. Post this along with your answers in your own journal so others can play along.

I love Death. Oh so very much. The first time she appears, she quotes Mary Poppins and spends about three pages talking about how much she loves the movie, including trying to explain "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" to Dream. So this makes a great happy icon. :p The "S is for" is because I made it for [livejournal.com profile] abc_icons

This is the anime and manga version of the SAME CHARACTER. No, really! Poor Kei. :p When I made my Pretear FST, "Kids" from Bye Bye Birdie was the super obvious song for him. This is a line from it, because that's one of Kei's question about kidlets. :p

This was made for [livejournal.com profile] bishounen_awards for the theme "Numbers". It's Tohma from Gravitation being emo. :p

I've mentioned my love of Goblins more than once. This is my favourite character, Dies Horribly. He's been living in fear all his life because they let the clan's fortune teller name him. :p

If you ask any girl from the parish aroun/What pleases her most from her head to her toes/She'll say I'm not sure if it's business of yours/But I do like to waltz with my logdriver.

For he goes birling down and down the white water/That's how the logdriver learns to step lightly/Yes birlig down and down the white water/The logdriver's waltz pleases girls completely...

When I was a kid, I watched a lot of children's programming on CBC. They would periodically play this animated short from the Canadian Film Board called "The Logdriver's Waltz". So here we have a line from the song with a cap from the video. :p

Well, as Firefly fans know, the Special Hell is reserved for child molestors and people who talk in the theatre. So here we have Usagi and Mamoru from Sailor Moon. Usagi is in junior high. Mamoru is in university. Mamoru is going to the Special Hell. :p

WHo doesn't love world domination? :P This was made for me in one of those interest memes. :p

I always thought the whole Mamoru x Usagi thing was really sweet! ... My mother kept trying to explain that it was just plain kinky, though. LIES! LIES, I SAY!

Pssh. That's nothing. There are 14 years between my boyfriend and I. :X

CSI: Gil & Spidey is my CSI icon. CSI was something my dad used to watch religiously, and when he brought home three seasons on DVD, my aspiring forensics-specialist sister kidnapped them and watched the first two seasons in the confines of her cave. Curious, I bombarded her TV time and sat in on a couple of episodes. It just so happened that the first episode I saw featured Gil Grissom going on and on about bugs and tarantulas, so I fell in love on the spot. It seemed appropriate that my CSI icon would reflect that moment. :D

Image
FFXI: BLM Tank is a Final Fantasy XI (online) reference. I have been playing the game since they mailed me the beta discs for the US PC version. BLM stands for "Black Mage," which is a very powerful but very fragile class. This, of course, leads to them being the center of aggression from monsters and they die fast and frequently. At the time that I made the icon, I had a BLM guild-mate that was convinced he was a much better tank than his warrior friends, so he would shout in guild chat "BLM TANK FTW" before running into a suicidal situation.
The image is actually of two goblins, a healer class and a thief class, which I witnessed eating a newly created BLM, one afternoon. After nuking the poor guy, the goblins buffed up and wandered back to their spawn positions. I could just imagine them telling stories to other mobs.

Image
Scrubs: Gay Chicken is probably my favorite Scrubs icon. Dr. Cox is a sarcastic medical guru that guides all the interns through the series. In one particular episode, Brendan Fraiser guest stars as Dr. Cox's brother-in-law, and they spend the whole episode playing pranks and antagonizing each other. In one scene, they have a very sentimental moment, lock eyes and lean in for a kiss, when Dr. Cox slams his hand against the wall and turns away angry, and Brendan Fraiser throws his hands up victoriously: "YEEES! I AM THE KING OF GAY CHICKEN!"
(See Here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzImcBeU65E).)

Image
SW: Sith Angry Face is ... well, um... I didn't have anything else I could think of that would be appropriate for that image of Exar Kun. I was drawing straws, really. But he looks so ANGRY! SITH ANGRY FACE! (tm)

Image
SW: Karrde Plotlines was stolen from Snarkel. I think I have collected every Talon Karrde icon on LiveJournal, and when she posted this one, I just couldn't help but snag it up. It seems appropriate, really -- Has he been in a story recently for any real reason other than filler? It makes me sad.

Image
Pokemon: Friend's Code is my Pokemon Pearl friend's code on an icon. To trade Pokemon with other Diamond/Pearl players, you have to register their friend's code into your Pal Pad and I can never remember my code. So I made an icon! The little sprites are from the game, edited and placed to be most appropriate for my gaming style. The Chatot perches on my head, like any good parrot; the Luxray stands ready at my side and both the Torchic and Piplup are tossed in to be cute. I like my birdy pokemon. :D

Image
Heroes: Thinking in Japanese is from the Heroes episode "Five Years Gone." Matt Parkman is an evil FBI agent interrogating Mr. Bennet, who realizes that Parkman is trying to suck more information out of him by reading his mind, so Mr. Bennet starts thinking in Japanese. Parkman, like most Americans, cannot understand Japanese and so his efforts are thwarted: "The son of a bitch is thinking in Japanese!"

Well, Grissom and the spider have a heck of a lot more chemistry than Grissom and Sara. ARRRG. HATE... RISING!

I just love Scrubs. The Brendan Fraiser episodes are awesome. :D

Karrde can come spend his off time with me. No Force powers needed in my house! We'll find a use for him. :X

Well, now you know my Name and FC, so you can add me. :D

It's the Leafe Knight of Plants and Adorableness. I love the light colours, so I had to do something with that pic.

Image

This icon's theme is "sparkly fangirl spazzing". Usually used in a tongue-in-cheek fashion.

Image

This is my friendly (fish-)face.

Image

Because bisexuals exist.

Image

Because Chibi Thundercracker taking a dive like that makes me think, "Whee!" (Thundercracker being one of my top-favourite Transformers, in case that's not exceedingly obvious.)

Starscream being a sparkly ghost. Transformers yay!

White Mage, Red Mage and Black Mage. The three mage classes from the original Final Fantasy. I know this is a terrible pun, but that's why I love it. It's my geeky Christmas icon. It can also be used on other occasions.

Image

I mostly made this for my friend [livejournal.com profile] song_of_silence; it's my hardcore music nerd icon, but since I haven't taken any music theory in a year or two, I don't use it much lately. It's a rather obscure pun: the grid full of numbers and things is a matrix of tone rows, used in the construction of twelve-tone serialist music - basically the governing principle of serialism is to break down the pitch hierarchy so that no one pitch is any more important than any other, so each of the twelve pitches is used before any is repeated. The method of execution involves constructing a tone row - choosing an order for the notes to go in - which is then formed into a matrix to give you all possible permutations (inversions, retrograde and retrograde inversions, which means turning it upside down, running it backwards, and both at once) of the row.

I'm not the hugest fan of a lot of serialist music, but I think the process is fascinating. I also like bad puns. Hence, the icon.

Image

Oh, Peter Jackson and his extreme close-up shots. Oh, Galadriel's eyes. :P This is a friend's cat. I found the eyes to be exceedingly blue, and they reminded me of Galadriel's eyes. But, of course, they're not. :P This may also have been a commentary on that really confusing shot of what must have been Frodo's eyes widening as Galadriel says inside his head, "One who has seen the Eye!" They couldn't have been Galadriel's eyes, because Peter Jackson made a point of the "Galadriel lights", those little white Christmas lights to reflect in her eyes like stars for all the close-up shots, and that last eye-widening had no Galadriel lights. But it confused me a lot for a while.

Image

I sort of stole the caption. :P I saw one with Ayame, so I decided to do one with Shigure because I already had a few of Ayame being pretty. I really love Fruits Basket. ^_^ I rarely use this icon because I don't really like the dark shadow on the text, but I didn't know how else to make it legible and I still can't think of a good alternative.

Image

My response to Idolmania. Need I say more?

Image

I'd noticed that bumbling sidekick friends come in pairs when Rumiko Takahashi's in charge. Ginta and Hakkaku, from Inu Yasha, are Kouga the wolf demon's friends/underlings, constantly running after him and never able to keep up because he's got shards of the Shikon no Tama in his legs and can run really fast. Hiroshi and Daisuke are Ranma's friends. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are clearly not a Takahashi creation, but they seem to fit the type. :P

Image

This is Miyavi. He is a man. You may have noticed me mentioning him quite a lot recently. He is beautiful and skilled with a guitar and his voice is made of sex bizarrely awesome. I love his music and his face. ^_^ This is now my default userpic. And have you seen my new mood set? :P

Remember me rhapsodising about Miyavi and how awesome he is? And how I was all shocked when I realised how tall he was? That's the guy. And, yeah. He's definitely a man. See this here icon? This is also cropped from a picture of Miyavi. That is definitely a man-hip. It's sort of hard to tell from a lot of the pictures (http://images.google.ca/images?hl=en&q=miyavi&btnG=Search+Images&gbv=2), but I promise he's a man. Listen to any of his songs. :P It's just 'cause he's so utterly drop-dead gorgeous and has no facial hair at all. I bet he can't even grow any. I mean, he is Japanese.

Where were you when I was swooning over him? Yes, it's a guy. Yes, I'm sure. He's the subject of my new mood theme; I've seen enough pictures of him to be absolutely positive. Besides, that particular shot is from the cover of one of his albums, and is the one they used in him Wikipedia article.

He's just REALLY PRETTY and has no facial hair. :P And likes to cross-dress, and kiss boys onstage to get the fans worked up. But I'm pretty sure he's not actually gay, for all that.

This is Sylar, aka Gabriel Grey, the main villian of Heroes. He is awesome. He's nuttier than a fruitcake and has decided that he deserves to be the specialist special snowflake of them all and he's killing off all the other Supers by TKing the tops of their skulls off and eating their braaaaaaaaaaains. Therefore, he really only does want people for their minds. Currently he's in the middle of some South American country minus his powers and stuck in Claire's car with Mopey and Dopey, the Wonder Twins of boring plotlines.

But he's still awesome.

Image (http://photobucket.com)

The most mocked line in the entire LotR trilogy. But this one has Boromir holding an electric guitar, so it's the funniest. And it really is a good little photoshopped picture.

Image (http://photobucket.com)

Ah, Mo and Sylar, Sylar and Mo. I love 'em. At one point last season, Sylar brain sliced a guy named Zane. Zane really deserved it because he was much too stupid to live. Sylar then hid Zane's body and assumed his identity while Mo came to talk to him about powers. Thus began the Roadtrip of Fun and Decapitation with Mo leading Sylar to supers and Sylar stealing their powers. Mo figured out that "Zane" was actually Sylar, but not until he'd gotten a few people killed through sheer stupidty. That icon is only slightly exaggerating Mo's big reveal. It involved chai in the show. And spinal taps. And then a bunch of monologuing instead of Mohinder shooting him in the kneecaps.

Of course, an even bigger showdown is coming in this season when Sylar arrives in New York and finds out that Mo has gone domestic with someone else and they've got a kid.

Image (http://photobucket.com)

Yeah, My Captain Pretear icon. Some AMAZING person made this and I thought it was just too funny and they were generous enough to let me have it. If only I could remember who it was...

Of course, now I'll find Captain Planet references because you can never have just one. They're like potato chips. I'll be seeing them everywhere all weekend. I might as well go ahead and get the theme song stuck in my head now.

Ten bucks bets that show will get made into a movie, by the way. They're on an eighties tv shows into movies kick, it's only a matter of time before Captain Planet's turn comes.

It cut me off!

here's the rest,

Image (http://photobucket.com)

Ah, Shigure and his never ending battles with his editor. It's one of the best parts of Fruits Basket. I love Anime!Shigure. He's awesome. And I love this procrastination icon because it's TRUE

Image (http://photobucket.com)

Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks got THE most useless deaths in the entire Harry Potter series. Offpage and for no reason. They didn't die doing anything important, they just DIED. Right after they had a kid. WHAT. THE. HECK? It was pointless. Totally and completely pointless. Rowling said that she killed them both off to establish that wars have consquences and blah blah blah POINTLESS. We know that wars have consequences and she didn't have to kill the two coolest characters off to prove that. We got to see it with both Harry and Neville. They both lost parents to the war. We got to see it with Dumbledore, we got to see it with Snape, we got to see it with FRED. Jeez, Rowling, leave at least a few awesome characters alive, could you? *flail*

So yeah, I like that icon because I think it's the real reason she killed him. So he could make an appearance with the other Maurauders when Harry had to 'die'

*puts away soapbox*
