May. 1st, 2008 10:53 pmThere were MYTHBUSTERS! On CSI! THAT WAS SO AWESOME! Best cameo EVER. :p The episode was on crack, incidently. :p
I also remembered to actually watch Grey's. :p

Nov. 9th, 2007 09:47 pmYeah, I lose at updating. I just keep getting distracted. It seems to happen so easily these days. I have to concentrate so much harder on listening to things these days, which might be part of the problem. I think my hearing is getting worse. I should have mentioned it when I had my physical on Tuesday, but I forgot... oops. :p
Katie, your DVDs are in the mail. Vicki, so is your check.
I have a new icon, because Four is basically tied with Ten for my affections at the moment. Still need a Ten icon. :p And a Sarah Jane icon, because she is also awesome. :p On that note...
( Sarah Jane Adventures: Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane? Part Two )
( Old School Doctor Who: Robot )
And now for something completely different...
( Grey's Anatomy )

May. 17th, 2007 08:59 pmD*mmit CTV, stop messing with the timeslot for Grey's! Grey's is at NINE, not EIGHT. I expect it to be on when I tune in for it! And I can't just catch the American feed, that's up against CSI. If it's one of your top rated shows, WHY DO YOU KEEP MOVING THE TIMESLOT?
ANd why is ER in the Grey's timeslot? ER isn't on Thursday nights! And who cares about ER anyway, GREY'S!
...
Okay, I managed to timeshift. :p It's fifteen minutes into the episode (because the episode is apparently an hour and fifteen minutes? WTF?), but I managed to timeshift! Crisis averted! :p

Feb. 22nd, 2007 09:16 pmWHERE IS MY GREY'S! WHY IS CTV SHOWING THE STUPID AMERICAN IDOL RESULTS SHOW? WHERE IS MY GREY'S? I NEED THAT CONCLUSION!
(Apparently we can see it in an hour, but... WHY IS IT NOT ON WHEN IT'S ALWAYS ON? WHEN I HAVE MY SOCIAL SCHEDULE PLANNED AROUND?)
How can they do this to me when there's the resolution to a three part arc on tonight?
Also, the convention is tomorrow. ACK. I've opted for the River dress because I've never worn it at Animaritime before and I want to get some better pictures. Today was crazy con prep day. Of course, I'm not trusted to fold, so I was a runner. Bill and I made a run to Moncton to drop some stuff off at the convention centre. We were SUPPOSED to get some colour copies of badges made, but the price was ridiculous so we bought ink for his printer instead.
Of course, the convention means that I won't be online the whole weekend, lacking a computer at the hotel and all. I won't go so far as to say this post is the last you'll hear from me, since I'm sure I'll make a post-Grey's post. :p

Feb. 9th, 2007 01:36 amSo, this morning I tripped over a skipping rope on live television. :p For those of you who aren't MOunt A students and thus have NOT been getting three emails a day, Mount A's capital fundraising campaign is called JUMP. Since we have a national champion skipper, they decided it would be a good idea to attempt to break the record for most people simultaneously skipping. They were interviewing the girl in question this morning and they wanted people skipping in the background. She's in my 8:30 class, so we all got drafted. I was NOT dressed for skipping, with a coat that goes past my knees. I think I managed to jump over the rope three times once. :p My one consolation? It's not like anyone actually WATCHES CBC. :p
I didn't actually participate in the JUMP thing, I went to the recruiting session instead. A lot of us were feeling pretty divided since there WAS the recruiting session, but we also see Sara every day, so if we didn't go jump...
I got my INorganic assignment assignment that is due tomorrow done. ACK so much schoolwork. There is an UNGODLY amount of stuff due right around my THESIS. But I got the assignment done in time to whip up a batch of brownies for Grey's Night. :p
Oh, and the kanji for this week are utterly DEATH. Why do they have to be so COMPLICATED?
And Grey's! OMG *FLAILS* HOW CAN IT END THERE? That was a SERIOUSLY intense episode.
Finally... OMG STAR WARS THE MUSICAL! I don't know why it exists, but it's the greatest thing in the history of EVER! I love my crack music. :p

So, the LARPers? Totally my favourite volunteers right now. They RESPOND! And then they send follow up emails to make sure I got their giant response of DOOM.
seryan, is there any chance I can get you to poke the modelly types about actually answering one of my emails? :p
We've hit a hundred pre-reg for the con. *flail* That's a lot of people and there will be more at the door and pre-reg isn't closed yet and how did this convention get so BIG and why is it less than two months away? *more flailing*
Speaking of flailing... how is the show less than two WEEKS away? *flail* I'm starting to get the hang of the Munchkin dances at least. Tonight's rehearsal should be interesting, since I suspect there will be some re-choreographing going on. EVERY year, there's a number where the score is completely different from the CD. EVERY year, it's one of the big full chorus song and dance numbers. THis year is no exception, with the music for the dance break in "Merry Old Land of Oz" being completely different from what we thought. *flail*
And in slightly less pressing flailing... Grey's ANatomy! *flail* Izzie listened to us, but we're hoping that she'll get off okay because the entire cast was telling her to do the same thing. And George's dad! *flail*
ANd of course, there's also that thesis and grad school thing looming. *UBER FLAIL OF DOOM*
In non flailing news, I wrote all my track notes for my Firefly FST last night, so I should be posting it up soon. There was a lot of not apologizing involved, because I'm NOT sorry for my cracktastic song choices. :p

Nov. 3rd, 2006 01:17 amWell, got through the debate okay. Amusingly, it turned into a bit of a love fest. The sides wound up AGREEING on stuff. We expected to spend the entire time arguing about whether heavy main group pi bonds even EXIST, but they conceded that point early on and we wound up arguing over whether they were novel. :p I managed to talk a bit more in this one than the last, which is good. Also, I got my lit review and my midterm back, both of which were B+'s, so yay. I actually did two percent better on this midterm than the last one, which surprised me.
After the debate, I went to lunch with the Toads, which is always a blast. Then I spent the afternoon slaving in the kitchen for Ryan's birthday. The cookbook somewhat exaggerates how much frosting is required for a two layer cake. I hadn't tried that particular approach before and I wound up with a LOT more icing than I needed, so sugar rush ahoy. I made baked salmon with mushrooms, which was very yummy. I was definitely glad I had Doug there to help me with the dishes though. :p He also changed the lightbulb for our porch light, yay!
After that, it was off to
neekabe's house for
ramenparty's birthday party, which was a RIDICULOUSLY fun time. We're all so INSANE, I love it. Then it was off to Lily and McGeek's for Grey's Anatomy night, which is always a blast. We also watched CSI, which would have been a LOT less creepy if we could have stopped saying "pedophile Wash" because OMG WRONG. :p Geek that I am, I also yelled at the lab guy for holding a micropipet sideways, because you are NOT supposed to do that, it totally wrecks the calibration and those things are expensive. :p
ACK, note to self, return that book to the library tomorrow!

Sep. 29th, 2006 09:46 amMy pretty shinies came in yesterday. :D This particular batch was Where's Neil When You Need Him? (a CD inspired by the assorted work of Neil Gaiman), FaustEric (the one Discworld book I don't have... well, other than Wintersmith, obviously :p) and Finding Serenity: Anti-Heroes, Lost Shepherds and Space Hookers in Joss Whedon's Firefly (a geek book. :p) The CD is VERY cool music. :D And the geek book is so SHINY and so very very GEEKY and it makes me oh so VERY happy. :p
Speaking of geeky and making me happy... I finished reading the first volume of Runaways yesterday. It's a funky series and I think I definitely need to buy more. (
chlorrel,
djcati,
pirate_lass? This is YOUR fault, I hope you realize. :p)
I had my audition for The Wizard of Oz last night, which I think went decently. I was running late, so I had to run to campus, but in true G&G fashion, things were running behind schedule. :p
Last night, Vicki and I went over to someone's house to watch the Grey's Anatomy premiere. Yes, the premiere. CTV is silly and showed the SECOND episode last week, so we got the premiere last night. Which made a few things make a lot more sense. :p Lily and Sean (the people we watched it with) are, like, my new favorite people, incidently. THey're just so cool. Sean is McGeek, because the other girl we were watching with decided she was Izzy. Vicki called NOT being Meredith, and then Sean said that we could call him McDreamy, but he doubted we would. This led to the designation of McGeek. :p They're also Firefly fans and generally awesome and YAY.
And now I'm ending this post because Vicki insists I come see something. :p

Sep. 22nd, 2006 01:04 pmWe had a Spectroscopy party yesterday. We got the entire class together to work on the assignment in the Cragg. We used the whiteboard and everything! A lot of the party was me and JM trying to teach Quantum to the rest of the class. My notes from Stacy's quantum class have proved a GODSEND, because everyone else either didn't take Quantum or took Dr. Reade's math-free Quantum.
Oh, Lindsay, my Inorganic prof said that the Argosy is one of the best student papers he's ever seen. Thought you might like to know. :p He wonders how you guys actually manage to put it together every week. I told him you never sleep. :p
In the wonderful world of Sims, SIm Simon got married to SIm Kaylee, and they had a baby. I named the baby Amos, though I'm not sure why. Also, Kaylee is gradually redecorating the Tam house. :p Simon is one promotion away from being a surgeon, and then he gets to go take up a life of crime. :p Oh, and SIm River is a HIGH SCHOOL SCIENCE TEACHER. That just seems wrong on SO many levels. :p River. Teaching high school. Any brains unexploded? :p
Vicki and I watched Grey's ANatomy and CSI last night. Dr. Bailey's first name is MIRANDA? She never struck me as a Miranda. She's still made of awesome though. :p And ACKOMGWTFCSI?! That ENDING! I mean, we knew that SOMETHING was going to happen when they'd solved both cases with fifteen minutes left to go, but STILL! ACKOMGWTF?! I wasn't expecting THAT!
Incidently, you know a couple turns me into a pathetic pile of squee when they get TWO icons. :p
And a meme from
byakuganchick because I have about ten minutes to kill before SPec. :p

Jul. 27th, 2006 01:29 pmWe finished up the first season of Grey's ANatomy last night. It's great fun. :D Izzy used to be so COOL in the first season... what HAPPENED? In the last episode, George managed to do the impossible. When he was trying to talk to Olivia, he actually managed to make SIMON look SMOOTH. I didn't know that was POSSIBLE. :p
Recrystallizations are annoying. I have something that ALMOST works, but I can't get rid of the last little bit of aldehyde. It only integrates for 0.18, but that's enough to bring the melting/decomposition range to about five degrees. (Two or three is when things count as pure enough) On the plus side, I found out why I've been having so many problems with it decomposing when I was rotovapping out of water. The decomposition range seems to be really low. It started around 118 as near as I can tell. Which is AWFULLY close to the boiling point of water. Poor Godot is apparently rather delicate. :p
On the plus side, we're leaving in like half an hour to go to a bar in MOncton. Because we're the slacker group. :p
