Yubsie's Yammerings

There were tables in the resource room today! Still waiting on chairs. There were chairs in boxes outside the room, but they turned out to be the wrong chairs. They were wheelie chairs with adjustable height and armrests. Considering one of the professors was wheeling around the foyer while they discussed where those chairs were SUPPOSED to go and where the resource room chairs could be, it's pretty obvious why this is not a good idea. :p

I was watching all this because I had students for the first hour but no one came by in the second. I also gawked at the first year labs, because they have an entire wall that is nothing but windows (if I were in first year, I'd be a LITTLE creeped out by this :p). And chatted with the construction workers who were staining the door.

One of the construction workers asked what I do when there aren't any students coming by to ask questions. I held up the page I was writing on. He said "Ah, your own work."

I, umm, decided not to mention that it was actually the beginning of a fic where Desire impersonates Death in the Deathly Hallows story. :p

Today we got our wedding gifts from the UPS depot. We are now the proud owners of TWO fondue pots. One for cheese and one for chocolate, we've decided. Tomorrow gets to be thank you note happy fun time. :p And getting all this stuff out of the boxes to find PLACES for it. :p

Also, for the record, only having one NMR machine running is a PAIN. It's already mostly booked up for tomorrow, because just about everyone needs NMR to check their reactions. There's a lot of "Ooh, someone must have cancelled this ten minutes! MINE!" They're moving the NMR room, but even when they get the machines set up in the new facility, it's a construction zone and we're not allowed in. We're hoping they move the boundary soon. :p
