Anime was pretty fun last night. Lots of Animaritime planningness because ACK CRUNCH TIME!

We watched Slayers. I am completely and utterly in LOVE with that series. As soon as Lina started going on about cliche dialogue, I knew I had to see the whole thing. Slayers and I are definitely a good fit. SO MUCH AWESOME!

After that, we watched Record of Lodoss War. It was interesting, though I'm not OMGINLOVe or anything. I wouldn't object to seeing more, but there are other things I will go out of my way to see first.

Then it was Narutaru, aka the series with the starfish thing. That series REALLY needs to decide what tone it wants to have. It keeps acting like it's going to be cute, and then do something really disturbing. Make up your mind!

Finally, we watched Final Fantasy Unlimited. It's kinda fun for the FF elements, but as a whole, really not that great a series. The excessive summoning sequences are gorgeous, but the bulk of the animation is quite blah. The story hasn't really drawn me in, and the characters are also pretty forgettable.

Got a lead on the ever elusive Shout It Out. I have a shmancier Bittorrent client that lets me choose which files from within a huge torrent I want to download, so I'm being the world's worst leecher. Well, except for the part where I'm uploading 8329308 times faster than I'm downloading. :p

And yes, I uploaded this icon EXPRESSLY to irritate Vicki. Because I COULD. :p

So I had a talk with Steve on Saturday. He said that I should still try to do Honours if it's what I want, because it's still possible. Also that I won't even REMEMBER Langler years from now. :p

I suck at being depressed anyway. Not long after the angsty entry and tearful phonecall to my mother, I waved at the mirror and chirped "Hi Despair!" Which probably means I was doing a better job of being in Delirium's realm than hers. :p

We watched a series I can't think of the name of, but it had a cute little starfish thing and I want one. :p

We choreographed Oklahoma today. SQUARE DANCING! :p

Saw GoF.

There's something amusing about being able to enter multiple icons, there really is. :p

We have random former MASSIEs visiting us, which is great fun. They're so sweet. We came home from rehearsal the other day and found out they'd done the dishes from the party. They're also just generally fun. :D

The party went really well. APparently, it IS possible to get eleven people into our living nook, though it's a bit of a cute trick. The pizza guy commented that "That's a lot of food". :p Silly Ryan didn't even ACT surprised. He said "Oh, like I didn't see THIS coming." That got him tickled, the twit. :p Still, it was a fun time. I didn't have time to let the cake cool properly before icing it, so we called it the aftermath of a shounen anime, all explodey! It TASTED good though. :p

I lost at getting up for anything this weekend, but I really needed the extra sleep.

Anime was very moviey last night. First we watched a live action Japanese flick called The Returner. It was a bit insane, but fun. Time travel, aliens, guns and all that exciting stuff. Then we watched Jinro, which I didn't really follow well. The fact that I was writing the crossover fic for the House CUp probably didn't help. :p

Other than that, I've danced far more than I ever want to again this weekend. Two hours of Many A New Day yesterday and four hours of the ballet today, though we got a half hour break and then ended about twenty minutes early.

This incoherent update brought to you by me not updating over several days. :p

Well, it's been a busy couple days. Got a B+ on my Classics paper, which is decent. Wish it was a bit higher though, since that class is supposed to be my GPA booster. I did my Quantum presentation. Not entirely sure how it went, I feel like I just blathered. But I used the phrases "ungodly amount of math" and "doomishly large organic molecules", and that's what counts.

Saw Antigone last night, which was quite fantastic. I didn't realize that when Sammy said it was cross cast, she meant the female roles were filled by men. I figured it was the traditional women pretending to be men because not enough boys audition. :p

I skipped research this morning because I feel like I'm coming down with something and REALY needed the extra sleep. Had an acting rehearsal for Oklahoma after that. Then I went to a help session for Analytical.

Finally, the anime club Halloween party, which was great fun. THough for the record, black is NOT a good colour for nighttime photoshoots. Black eyeliner is a definite pain. How do goths DO it? The costume turned out really cool though. I think it's my favorite costume I've made so far.

We watched Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, but I really didn't follow because I was playing Monkey Arena. Then we watched Hellsing, which I didn't even TRY to follow. Then we watched X. We did the photoshoot during episode zero, but got back in time for the actual first episode. I SO adore Sorata.

Oh, Vicki, when he says "Missy" it was "Neechan" :p

I also finished reading volume nine of Sandman. The scene where... it was so sad! I was whimpering.

I found my missing Duo pin. Unfortunately, I found it by stepping on it with a bare foot. :p

Finally, for everyone's amusement...

Yesterday was crazy busy. Started off bright and early going to the lab, where I found the crystals that STILL excite me greatly. I also finally got my Wild Toads t-shirt.

After that, it was off to G&G spirit day, where we discovered that we all still remember last year's spirit dance, even if we WERE too eager to start the Macarena section. :p We learned this year's spirit dance, which is to Sweet Home Alabama. It's DELIGHTFULLY silly. :p

After that, it was anime club time. We watched the FMA dub while playing boardgames. It seems to be a decent dub, though Al's voice goes up and down in quality. Still, when he's good, he's GOOD. I played Apples to Apples. Silly Vicki played "My love life" when I was judging for which card best suited the word "frightening". Needless to say, she did NOT get the card that round. :p When the gaming died down, we watched King of Bandit Jing. It's very SPECIAL. It amuses me in its absurdity. :p Then we watched Figure 17, which is SO PRETTY. We only had time for one episode because each episode is 45 minutes. So we didn't get to see anything I hadn't seen before, but it was still enjoyable. Looks like the manga only has two volumes, so I'm going to try to pick up the second volume soon. When I have half the series, I might as well get it all. :p It's 13 episodes in all, but that's spread over six volumes, so it might be a little expensive for me to buy it. At any rate, I'd like to see the other two episodes on the DVD the club owns. It really is pretty, and I like what I've seen so far.

Amusing dub casting for that, incidently. Tsubasa's voice is CHER. Umm, the Wolf's Rain character, not the scary person. :p She's also in Angel Tales, FLCL, Witch Hunter Robin and Chobits. Cher is the most amusing one though. :p Oh, and we're apparently all crazy. Because although Hikaru's dub voice sounded like Kari and we were all sure it was... it apparently isn't. :p

This morning I dragged myself out of bed to make it to church on time. Which I barely managed. :p The gathering hymn reminded me that I have a paper due. They WOULD decide to sing about "God created Earth and Heaven/God commanded light to be/Seperated... waters" when I have a Classics essay about creation stories due. :p I have said paper typed up now, at any rate. It became slightly more coherent in the process, but it still has a way to go. Oh, and I need to cut the better part of a page to get it down to the maximum. Yay for destructive editing!

Whee, first anime club meeting!

We watched Spiral, which the club originally bought for the pretty. It's pretty neat. The melody of logic plays the truth. The way the episodes play out is somewhat reminiscent of an Encyclopedia Brown book, where right at the end the crime is solved because of x, y and z. There's this crazy reporter girl who reminds me SO much of Yayoi. I love her to pieces. Judging from the opening, if there IS a love interest, she's it. We're not sure there is though. I'd like to see more of that series though.

Next we watched Hellsing. I'd seen it before, and vampires aren't really my thing, so I wrote fanfiction instead. Goh went off on a random angsty tangent, which I blame fully on Tess. GOH. ANGSTING. :p

Much to my surprise, we watched Cardcaptor Sakura after that. I was really expecting to spend three weeks voting for it every time until it got shown. That series is SO MUCH CUTE. I seriously love it to itty-bitty pieces.

Vicki and I kept begging people on and off to come over to change our lightbulb. Bill is a meanie and won't. Katikabe eventually agreed in exchange for borrowing more Sandman. :p

It poured rain all day, which made the walk there and back a bit unpleasant. I hope it lets up in time for church tomorrow, but it's supposed to keep going until the afternoon. Maybe it'll stop in time to walk to general auditions. That would be really nice.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] jeepersjournal I was able to get our cable working. I knew we were supposed to be getting more than fourteen channels. :p

Probably the most exciting is the fact that we do get YTV. Which means dubbed anime. Obviously subbed would be preferrable, but some of the things it airs have solid dubs, so yay. And I can't really complain when it's free. :p

My new plan for dealing with Disgusting O'Clock Mass is to get up for it, and if I'm still tired afterwards, take a nap. :p

We had the SACtivities Fair, and I wound up signed up for more clubs than I meant to. Yes, I'm a third year and should know better, but I also know too many people working tables. I meant to sign up for anime, writing society and G&G. Which I did. I also kinda meant to sign up for Chem Society because my friends from the summer had insisted. The chem society gave me a pixie stick. :D Katikabe made me sign up for karate. It should be a fun way to get exercise... if it fits in my schedule. I also signed up for Mount A Christian Fellowship. They seem like a nice bunch, so hopefully I can make it to SOME meetings of that one. Chem society doesn't have regular meetings, so that should help.

The show this year is Oklahoma!, which should be a blast. :D Black Tie is doing Into the Woods. It would be fun to do that one, but with convention, it's just not viable. I do have SOME restraint, see? I can't wait to see it though. :D

The Christian Fellowship had a free BBQ today, which was pretty snazzy.

Vicki and I watched one more episode of Stars, which was great fun. We may actually finish it off this week. We really fly through anime now. Next up is Escaflowne.

And OMG, I actually did a Langler problem set before the next class! Gape in awe, everyone! I even dug out my old notes so I COULD do it. Because he assigns homework as if there was no summer in between. :p Also got all of the analytical assignment done that's based on chapters we covered. I'm actually keeping on top of things!

ANy bets on how long it lasts?

Went to see Wedding Crashers last night. Like Vicki said, it was amusing, if predictable. Definitely worth two dollars, at any rate.

Today, I had to boyfriendsit for Sammy. Doug and I went for lunch at Pattersons. He bought me a chocolate milkshake to prove that it would still make me hyper. Yeah, he's strange. Then we watched the second Care Bear Movie. Hey, don't look at me, I suggested Moulin Rouge! It was kinda scary that I could still remember the growing up song though. It's a cute song, I'll admit. :p Then, since he had a car, I made him drive me to the grocery store so I could pick up food for this week.

We were being total geeks, and having a birthday party for Ami. We made chocolate cake! Ryan, Sammy and Doug came over for the party. Doug, Ryan and Vicki tried to stop me and Sammy from singing, but we sang anyway. Then we ate the cake. I was a little skeptical when I read the sour cream in the recipe, but it wound up tasting good. You can't REALLY go wrong with chocolate cake. :p We watched Millenium Actress (finally, after like a year and a half of wanting to see it :p) It was a really interesting movie. QUite strange, and there are some things that still aren't clear, but that's kinda what's cool about the whole thing.

When Ryan, Sammy and Doug headed back to campus, Vicki told Sam and Doug to "Go continue your incestuous relationship elsewhere!"

Explanation: Sammy is my "little sis". Doug is my "big brother". When I introduce them as such, it makes their relationship seem really weird. It amuses me. :p

After that we watched more Stars. Have I mentioned how much I LOVE that season? It's getting really, REALLY cool. We only have like ten episodes left, which we may try to get through tomorrow. I'm REALLY curious about some of the secrets.

Funny, when we were younger, my sister loved Sailor Moon and I didn't like it. Now that I'm watching it subtitled, I'm the one that loves it, and Gwenna, with only her memories of the horrendous dubs, doesn't like it. :p

Tessie has addicted me to Noob It kills me ded. :p
yubsie: (Default)
