Yesterday morning was oh such GREAT fun. Getting woken up by Vicki knocking on the door saying "You know it's eight, right? Umm... make that 8:05" I in fact did NOT know this, because the battery back up in my alarm was dead and we'd had a power failure that night. I had an 8:30 and it's a ten minute walk to campus, so I was scrambling. Had a mug of DISGUSTINGLY strong tea with no milk in Quantum, but I made it. :p

NEedless to say, I replaced the battery today. :p

We were supposed to have our first Organic lab today, but the fumehoods still aren't working so we just did check in and the safety spiel. Which basically was "You're in third year now. Labs are dangerous. Don't do anything STUPID." :p Dr. Langler laughed at me when I asked about getting extra-small gloves. Apparently no one had ever asked that before. Fortunately, Shrubby was there to attest to the fact that the size DOES exist. ANd then grumble about me making him walk all the way down to the supply room. :P

I almost majored in science, but I swear, ever since high school I got scared from those safety spiels before labs. I was afraid that acid would drip on me and eat a hole in my hand, that a beaker would explode and blind me, that I'd set the lab on fire, that I'd blow up the whole school by accidentally leaving the gas valve on, etc. Really, it's enough to give a hobbit the creeps. :p

Well, after a summer of working in a lab, I'm still in one piece. If you're careful, the worst that will happen is the occasional dropped beaker (hopefully empty)

The only harm anything ever did me was a killer headache when they had us using chloroform out of the fumehood. :p
