(no subject)

So, any POSSIBLE chance of me being sane was destroyed today. I'm not the first person to try sweet talking a reaction. But today, I was singing to a solubility test.

I don't know why. I was trying to see if beta-alanine would dissolve in ether (amino acids are soluble in water... and not much else :p), and for some reason, I started singing this little ditty:

I hate amino acids
Oh yes you know it's true
I hate amino acids
If you were me, you'd hate them too!

No clue why... and then it got stuck in my HEAD. Moral of the story? If you're making up a song about hating a chemical, don't give it a catchy tune!

*giggles* I should've tried that in the THREE-HOUR CHEMISTRY LABS AT THE COMMUNITY COLLEGE. :O Aww, the missed chances of acquiring weird looks from the class. :D

I'm in the lab seven hours a day, five days a week. Amino acids are the bane of my existance. :p

Oddly, I DIDN'T get many weird looks. Everyone is just as annoyed with THEIR projects. :p

We're trying to make some new compounds containing boron so we can test them for anti-cancer activity. ^_^

Because boron has a lot of really nifty biological properties that I need to go read up on before I have to present in a couple weeks. :p

One of them is that it can switch from water soluble to organic soluble as needed.

Of course, the big reason is that Steve is a boron chemist and it's his lab. :p

XDD Ahh. That makes sense too. :P

I don't know much about them yet either. I have to read up on them though, because Steve will GRILL me when I present. :p

It's all about the kinds of solvents things can go into. Water soluble is useful in the body... except when you DON'T want it to dissolve. :p Organic solvents are things like chloroform. :p

Usually it comes down to things like that. :p
