I hate shopping for clothing. So much.

It seemed like such a simple task. I wanted a new pair of khakis because it's summer and most of my non-denim pants have worn out/been destroyed by cats.

I started at Reitman's because they actually carry petites and are thus my go to store for pants.

Except none of their khakis had pockets. I don't get it. Why would you make pants without pockets? It's just illogical.

So we went to Walmart. And discovered that there was one pair of size four khakis in the entire store. One! Needless to say they weren't petite, but they were non-denim, had pockets and fit in the waist. So they were going to have to do.

I hear there are people who like shopping. I don't get it.

I wish that women's clothing designers knew that women like pockets as much as men do. Why is this hard??

Because women's clothing is not designed to fit actual living humans. It is designed to fit some idea belonging to someone who has never seen an actual woman, or possibly by a computer of some kind.

You'd think with the prevalence of cellphones etc. they would be more aware of the need for pockets.

I've given up on Reitman's re: pants. Either there are no pockets, or their sewn shut, or they're those little teeny pockets on the front that look like you're wearing your pants backwards. The thought of making my own clothing becomes more appealing as the years go by.

It makes me sad, because they were always the one store I could count on to have pants that fit. Which... they still do, but that doesn't help if I can't carry my keys, bus pass and phone with me.

Well, a lot of times pockets ruin the line of pants. I've had pants I absolutely loved but the pockets totally destroyed them because they were awkwardly placed/gaped weirdly. I've also sewn pockets shut because of this. The only pants I really require to have pockets are jeans, I'm pleasantly surprised when work pants have workable pockets but I don't expect them.

I've been having this problem even with jeans lately. I was looking for non-denim because it is summer and it is hot but I still need to wear pants. I don't care about the line of the pants, I just want to have my keys and buspass on me at all times without having to worry about them falling out. I consider functional pockets a basic feature of pants and wish stores would realize that fake pockets are a cruel mockery.

If men's pants always have pockets, women's pants can too.

I pretty only go shopping when family or friends drag me along, mostly when my sister decides I can't wear the same pants for 10 years. I'd be happy to wear the same pairs over and over, not because I don't care how I look, but because I hate the whole experience of it. Being petite doesn't make things easier, of course. Argh.
