A lot of the students seem to think they should be able to hear the vacuum when they do suction filtration. I'm really not sure why. So if they ask me if their vacuum is on, I show them to correct way to check. Which involves holding a hand over the funnel and FEELING if there's suction.
Well, it turns out one of the fumehoods has excellent vacuum. My hand got stuck.
At least it gave me a chance to demonstrate the proper way to disconnect the vacuum...
