Feb. 13th, 2005 10:28 amSo, I think my middle toe may be broken. I stubbed it (okay, SMASHED it) on Katie VP's couch at the potluck last night, and when I woke up this morning, in was blue and purple. I'm pretty sure that's not a happy colour for toes to be.
We finally got around to throwing Kei and Sasame their birthday party on Friday night. Rather late, but still every bit as geeky. After we made the pinatas (whee for papier macher! Wessa enjoyed greatly. :p) Vicki, Ryan and I went up to my room for the party. We got to make tea, since both Kei and Sasame have it as their favourite drink and we'd stolen sugar from the meal hall. Of course, I STILL have the party hats and blowers from when we went to Rocky Horror Picture Show, so we geeked it up big time. Ryan finally got tobe subjected to see the end of the series. He got somewhat annoyed that Vicki and I kept yelling at Hayate the whole time. Well, Hayate was being FRUSTRATING. I mean honestly, not telling her! BWAR. On a happy note, we're getting quite good at singing along with the opening. :p
Yesterday was pretty low key at research. We added some base to try and catalyze the reaction and then heated the bejeepers out of the thing for the whole time. Everyone else was doing much the same, because you'd walk into either lab and find a cluster of people at the far end, nowhere near the fumehood, chatting. After brunch, Vicki and I watched a bunch of Sailor Moon S, which was fun. Some filler and some stuff that actually advanced the plot a bit, so yay. Chibiusa was in it now. She's still mildly annoying, but not half as bad as she was in the accursed dub. She's somewhat cute, actually.
Then we had the potluck, which was a blas despite my klutziness. We discussed what show we'd like to do next year, and the consensus among the chorus was "Nothing with tables!". Or in other words, something where the chorus gets to get up and do things instead of being the patrons and staff of a nightclub. :p
After that it was anime club time. We're currently in the "We're not panicking, we swear!" stage, since convention is in LESS THAN THREE WEEKS. We were joking around about delegating freaking out, so I am now staff member in charge of running around in little circles. Our freaking outness of course led to the Analogue Duckhunt idea mentioned in the previous entry.
We watched Excel Saga, which I love to pieces. Then we watched FLCL, which I had voted for because Kim wanted it and had REALLY not wanted to watch Excel. I mean, fair's fair, right? It also had the bonus of REALLY annoying Vicki, because she's screams and whimpers every time it's mentioned.
Remind me to never vote for something just to annoy Vicki again. I forgot our tastes are rather similar. :p
After that, we wanted fluff so our brains could recover. Unfortunately, Martin currently has all our fluffy anime. So we watched Cowboy Bebop, because even though it's not fluff, it also doesn't make brains go all explodey.

Date: 2005-02-13 05:10 pm (UTC)I'm feeling a bit of a pannick about the Con, since I have most of the art done I want to, but my panels aren't very well organized since I've been spending my time on that...
Poor Vicki. I love FLCL, but it's one of those headexplodey anime, so I can see why she does't like it. I love head explodey anime myself though. I really should get around to getting the rest of Utena, as it's wonderfully headexplodey with a very sweet story. Vicky should stay away from the majority of Evangelion though. The last 7 or so episodes, the last 4 in particular, are VERY explodey. I really liked them, my fave of them all, but they're infamous in fandom for not making sense. So infamous that japanese fans pressured Gainax, so they made a movie, End of Evangelion, and slapped fans in the face by making it even MORE senseless :) [well, more structured senseless, but not as good of an ending]

Date: 2005-02-14 03:37 am (UTC)We haven't actually managed to see all of R. We're playing compare dub to sub. Even though there is NO comparing the two. :p
Con? Panic? Hehehehhe
Her complaint was that it's head explodey without being interesting. :p

Date: 2005-02-14 04:13 am (UTC)Our "spring" break is actually next week. We scheduled the convention for the end of it to avoid all writing a midterm the next day this year. :p
