Whoo getting sent home due to Health and Safety regulations. The power went out in the building today. We're not allowed to stay longer than 45 minutes without power, because air quality gets really bad really fast. A very sensible regulation. When I went to get my purse from my office the hallway was DEATH. Mostly because all the stinkiest labs are on that floor. :p

Of course, I was in the middle of doing something. :p And I can't even go in tomorrow to do it, since it needs to be checked by NMR and we're still not allowed in the NMR room. Grr.

Woah... Science always amazed me...

No wonder they ask you to get out, chemistry can get stinky sometimes XD

Yeah, no power= no fume hoods= bad. :p

We periodically get emails that basically go "Don't worry, it's not a natural gas leak, someone's doing a Birch Reduction on the second floor!" :p

I always loved chemistry in High School, I am assuming that in University it must be even more fun!
The only problem as to why I haven't continued in it is that I did not have a good memory for names and remembering formulas.
I wasn't even able to open a bunsen burner properly either.

I'll let the pros have fun with it :)

Fun... frustrating. Depends what the chemistry has decided to do that day. :p

(You don't have to know the formulas, just the pretty pictures! And we have short forms for like everything. :p)

Bunsen burners are actually very seldomly used. Other than flame drying, I never touch mine. (And I just leave all the knobs in the exact same place :p)
