Mar. 15th, 2008 09:03 pmI'm still trying to figure out what makes me really angry for
stormkpr. So instead I'll answer
chibifrieza's question about politics. :p
I'm basically a bleeding heart liberal. :p My big priorities are social programs, health care (which I think should never EVER be privatized) and education. And how to pay for this? How about the people who HAVE the money? That said, this sort of spending does have to be done carefully. Streamlining bureaucracy is also a helpful cost cutter. And it makes everyone happier!
Basically in politics, much like in fandom wank, I'm the genficcer in the corner saying "Can't we all just be NICE to each other?" Just in politics it happens to include being nice to the general population. :p
Oh, and to get into a specific issue, Quebec had bloody better not separate. This is partly selfish, because being born there is complicating enough. (I was rejected when I first applied for a SIN because the birth certificate issued when I was born was apparently not a birth certificate) Plus I'd rather not have a foreign country between me and the rest of my family. Won't somebody please think of the Maritimes?
No? Yeah, that's what I thought. Western alienation has nothing on "There are four provinces beyond Quebec? Are you sure?"
To mention something rather controversial, I'm pro life. But I also happen to think that shouldn't stop once the child is born. If we honestly expect people to not have abortions, there should be a proper support system for single mothers so that mother and child are still able to have a proper life. It's not fair to tell someone in a scary situation that she should keep her baby, but other than that, you're out of luck! Also, as much as I don't like abortion, I still think it needs to be legal. Because as much as I'd like for no one to have to resort to that option, this isn't my perfect world of no fail birth control, no rape, a care system where children with health problems can be sure to get adopted and perfectly safe pregnancies.
Same-sex marriage: Legal and bloody better stay that way.
And to get into parties... I didn't much mind the Progressive Conservative party. The trouble came when they merged into the Conservative party. That's when they got kinda scary. Policy wise, I love the NDP, but I'm not sure how well they'd manage the finance issue. I usually end up voting Liberal because, well, strategic voting. :p

Date: 2008-03-17 02:00 am (UTC)Awwwwwwwwww. ;_; I suddenly feel all spoiled and privileged, like the little rich kid whining that nobody understands him, while the kid down the block needs new shoes because it's winter and there are holes in his.
I more or less agree with everything you've said except for legalised abortion and same-sex marriage.
Also, I didn't vote in the recent provincial election. Neither did 78% of the rest of Alberta. :P We so fail at democracy.
