So, Hairspray? SO MUCH AWESOME!

The girl who played Tracy was SO amazing. I utterly and totally adored her performance, not to mention the character herself. :p She was so amazingly endearing, you half wonder why everyone wasn't following her lead IMMEDIATELY.

John Travolta has a surprisingly good woman voice. He sounded a lot less male than the guy on OOBC recording. :p

Also, how ADORABLE are Tracy's parents? Their song had me all asquee!

I totally teared up when they were marching. There was something about the song that REALLY affected me. Which is wonderful. Queen Latifah did a bang up job... though it took until everyone else started singing for me to sing. There's something about hopeful against all odds group numbers that just gets to me.

Does Hairspray have an act break? I'm trying to figure out where it was if there is one. Is it "Welcome to the Sixties"?

I enjoyed how everyone suddenly realized they were in a musical in that song, incidently. It was kinda neat how Tracy was the only one who would sing and dance if it wasn't to the radio or on the show. I especially loved the opening number with everyone being all "What do you think this is, some kind of MUSICAL?" And then in that number they realize "OH! This IS a musical!" and start breaking into choreographed dancing in the streets like a good little chorus. :p

And ee, Penny and Seagull! Just... eee! I also got SO excited when Little Inez won the pageant.

Also, I love and adore "You Can't Stop the Beat". But I knew THAT already. :p

So love, love, LOVE the movie. :D I actually kinda want the movie soundtrack now. Which is weird considering I have the OOBC, and I usually prefer that to the movie soundtrack.

I went ahead and ordered the soundtrack since I've been thinking about the songs all this past week. The movie was so good! Having Queen Latifah in it is like the icing on a delicious cake.

That movie is so awesome. I love it.

And Tracy being the only one to realize she was in a musical was best used in "I can hear the bells." I love the look on her driver's ed instructor's face.

What I want to know is, what the heck did Mrs. Von Tussle do to win that Miss Baltimore pagent? The line is "I hit the stage, batons ablaze, while belting Aida and preparing souffles," followed by something about a triple sommersault.

I don't think she needed to sleep with the judges if she could do all that.

Teehee. I love your explanation. "Oh, I torched the stage, and burned all the soufless, when I was Miss Baltimore Craaaaaabs!"
