So yesterday was pretty tiring. We started working at 7 AM and didn't finish until midnight. ANd then we had a two hour bus ride, on which I attempted to sleep in awkward positions. :p

I need to start screwing up more at work. :p Because I keep getting "This section is from you-know-where, so I'm going to give it to you because you've been doing so well. The section in question was the shelf of cosmetics full of all the stuff that didn't fit on the other shelves. :p I also got such evil things as the area behind the electronics counter full of all the stuff that hasn't been set back to the manufacturer yet because they haven't gotten around to looking up the SKU numbers. :p Oh, and a bin of 399 miscellaneous DVDs. :p

The stupidest area I was assigned was a single hula hoop on the restaurant wall. :p

The most annoying thing about being in Zellers for so long is hearing all the in store ad things all day long. :p They keep playing even after the store closes!

Also, the canned music all day long. I've heard Clay Aiken's "A Thousand Days" more times in the past few days than I ever heard it at home with my Clay Aiken fangirl sister!

The other song I kept hearing was that song I want banned from fanmixes, "Wonderwall". Hearing it so much made me actually THINK about the song. With the eternal question of... what exactly IS a wonderwall, anyway? What does "After all, you're my wonderwall" even MEAN?

I don't even think anyone even knows. Here's the wiki entry on it (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wonderwall_%28song%29).

At least it means they love your job performance and you're doing really well on the job.

But yeah, when I worked retail the canned music made me want to scream. One place played Madonna's "Cherish" and the Manhattan Transfer's "Boy From New York City" every day unfailingly. So you have my sympathy.

There's one grocery store that blares canned music and I tend to avoid it in favor of a quieter store that doesn't subject us to any muzak.

We had radio wars in Fry's Electronics, after hours. When the storm shutters rolled down (they locked us in tight!), each department would blare something loud just to be loud.

The computer department always won, though -- I have no idea how they beat out Automotive.
