So, someone want to help me with meimei? Where does one find geeks? She's so excited to see me because no one will talk to her about geeky things at school. Now, obviously there must be geeks at Saint Mary's SOMEWHERE, so does anyone have any thoughts on places I can suggest she look? :p They don't seem to have a nice, convenient anime club or anything like that. :p

Also, I totally need to burn this CD, since it's not easily buyable and I LOVE IT SO MUCH!

Unfortunately I can't help with the former, but concerning the latter:

Yubs, you're not listening to Anne and Gilbert: The Musical, are you? Which has been highly praised and recommended, but which I have only heard clips from?

I can speak from personal experence, that Halifax (and the surrounding area)doesn't really breed many actual geeks. I know that at school, there's only a few of us that actually even watch anime. And the stuff they watched was EVA and Princess Mononoke. They didn't even talk about it either. It was weird.

Neither did I...but...I guess it could possibly exist.

I wish I could help, but aside from my sister and mother (the former being relatively geeky like me, the latter being willing to listen to me talk about geeky things at great length), the only place I ever seem to find fellow geeks is online. That's a big reason I love the JC so much - it's the only place I can talk about SW without people giving me strange looks.

Maybe if she carried a symbol of geekiness with her, e.g., a sci-fi book or an anime comic book? The small handful of people I've met over the years who had similar geeky tendencies only came out of the woodwork when they saw me with a sci-fi book.

As a geek myself, I found that I discovered more of my own kind in places like the programming lab (the one with the fancy UNIX machines and not the Windows labs the rest of the school used), the Math and Computer Science Lounge, and the Science Lounge. I'd just take work, hang out, and talk with people. Way fun times.

Assuming St Mary's is a high school, have her stay for lunch with a teacher, getting help. Then conveniently coming back with a few more problems the next day, and a little more small talk. The biggest geeks in my high school were the teachers, but they tended to attract a few younger geeks too.
