Jan. 16th, 2005 12:19 amYay for LJ being back!
We got to check out some of the first season of Digimon subtitled last night. There's something inherently disturbing about hearing "Mimi-san". It just seems so wrong, especially since she's not all that different from her dub self. Of course, it's eight year old Takeru, so it makes sense. It still amuses me though. :p
Despite my charming floormates making sleep difficult last night, I dragged myself out of bed in time to get to Wild Toads at nine this morning. It's so exciting, getting to participate in actual research! We're working on developping potential anti-fungal and anti-bacterial agents, which is really nifty. And Dr. Westcott gave us cookies. :p
I've discovered something even more annoying than fangirl Japanese. Fangirl Japanese when you're trying to read in your third language. :p I stumbled upon a Pretear fansite written in German, so I decided to try reading it to see how much progress I could make. It was a fun little exercise. But the random Japanese scattered through it was annoying as hell. :p
We ran Act I with the pit today. The first pit rehearsal is always an interesting experience, since it usually doesn't quite match the CD, so there's mad scrambling with choreography. I learned exactly how long I have to stand very still and formally at my annoyingly placed coatcheck. The next batch of scenes in the Copa, I was going to be a patron because it was just too annoying. Now I'm a very versatile employee, since both waitresses have to make an early exit to dance Bolero. This was a problem until I pointed out that since I was established as a Copa employee, I could wait tables instead. :p
At anime, we watched more of Hellsing. It's... interesting, but vampires have never really been my thing. THen we watched X, which is very pretty and VERY confusing. BUt I want to see more just for the pretty. Next was WeiB Kruez. From the sounds of things, I'd like the first series of it better, even though it's not as pretty. We decided we needed fluff, so we watched Fruits Basket next. It was cute and fluffy, just like I wanted. I do love fluff by times. :p Finally, we watched another episode of Armitage III, which is still rather interesting.
