Got through Convocation awake. Commerce is done at the same time as Science, so I got to watch a bunch of my friends graduate too. One of Ryan's grandmothers is named Margaret. This caused no end of confusion. :p

Today, I actually got to do a reaction! *Ewok dance* My starting material FINALLY came in!

And after one day of being in the lab, I am already THIS CLOSE to being banned from picking the music. It's not MY fault I was the only one who brought CDs today! :p Every time Steve walked into the lab, he gave me That Look. He didn't come in the lab while I was playing the Delirium FST, which he had already given me That Look for because of the title ("Each Fish Sang a Different Song"). No, I was getting That Look for the Death FST ("Don't Fear the Reaper (She's Just Not That Scary!)" :p), which I always thought was relatively normal. I also got a "What the HELL is this?" for the Prozak for Lovers cover of "Don't Fear the Reaper" :p

I'd say everything you mentioned in the entry defintely classifies as very weird.

It's true. You're probably one of the few people who have a music collection that can rival Margaret's when it comes to weird XD

And I can blame it all on my mother (and her side of the family) Though my father has also had a hand in it ("Please Mr Custer! I dun wanna go ooooah'aoohhh")

So it's not even my fault! ^_~

Finally! Someone who sees it the way I do!

There was no mention of chickens with odd talents. Or songs made entirely of nonsence words. Or bouncy oldies type pop done in other languages. Or songs where japanese people shout Huzzah! but not. Or songs about an acid trip. Or...

THOSE songs are reserved for headphones when I listen to them at work. Much like songs about how hedgehogs have one less thing to worry about. :p

Everyone has headphones in the Cragg. :p And people know from my PUBLIC music that they probably just shouldn't ask. :p

Always look on the bright side of life and anything by Elvis immediately score a 5 or 6, due to extreme not-obscurity.

(By the way my scale was 7-10 measures weirdness, 5-6 measures normality, and 1-4 measures boringness :p)

I... don't think I actually know any of those songs. >_<

I do, however, listen to Lemon Demon, The Arrogant Worms, various Japanese metal, pop, and techno, Nintendo music, Tuvan throat-singing, etc., when I'm not listening to classical or Simon & Garfunkel or Cat Stevens or things like that.

So my weirdometer is on a different plane than yours, I fear. And by plane I don't mean aeroplane, but plane of existence.

Oh, I listen to a lot of those too. I was just trying to be nice to my coworkers and play one of my more NORMAL CDs. That's why I was so surprised that I kept getting That Look.

Though I'm still trying to figure out why the Death soundtrack got me more weird looks than the Delirium one. Delirium had Lemon Demon, Final Fantasy and anime music! :p (And a surprising number of mainstreamish artists, all things considered :p)

I suppose I mean, I don't really know or recognize normalcy - and plane of existence is a bit extreme. Our listening-habit-Venn diagrams overlap considerably, but I think our perceptions of normalcy probably don't so much. :P

I am curious now about the concept of an FST. Where does one acquire such things, or does one make them oneself? (And by one, I mean you... ^_^'>)

In the past couple days, I've come to the conclusion that my perception of "normal" may be rather off at this point. :p

fst is a really fun community. I've made a bunch, most of which I've burned to CDs to listen to at work. The titles alone get me strange looks. :p
