Dude, someone else actually wrote Death/DEATH! This delights me. :p

He Kindly Stopped For Me

Cracked out ships of awesome adorableness ftw. :p

You know, one of these days, I will write a Harry Potter fic that goes in a nice obvious community. This is, umm, not that day. Today is not that day. Today is the day I post a fic about Desire impersonating Death in "The Tale of the Three Brothers" in Deathly Hallows.

What? You know it makes more sense that way!

I beat Curse of Monkey Island yesterday. It was great fun. I heart that game liek woah. :p

And of course, today being Sunday, I played Sims. :p Poor Dawn Tam is starting to wonder if she's the only lesbian teen in the neighborhood. Gotta loved randomized orientation. (There are actually at least two other lesbian teens in the neighborhood. Unfortunately, they're her aunt [Hyacinth Tam] and her aunt's girlfriend [Autumn Washburne]) Though at least she's a Popularity sim, so she's not distraught about her lack of dating potential. She's happy to befriend the random girls she brings home from school. :p

And Del and Sue had their baby. A son named Anything. He was born in the middle of a date, actually. :p And yet they still managed to have a dream date. :p Sue is a very bizarre Popularity sim and never rolled a want to throw a graduation party. Del did though, so she got to have the party. Sue got to just quietly move back to the neighborhood with Anything. :p Who didn't get accidentally left behind, yay!

Also, Destiny smustled with a llama at the graduation party.

It was awesome plus bonus pictures )

Random thing that Vicki came up with when we were discussing Deathly Hallows. Obviously, Death in the fairytale can't really be Death, since she's too nice and all that. But it makes perfect sense if it's DESIRE disguised as Death. Really, the brothers get what they desire. And look where it gets them. :p

So I talk about ten icons )

Also, the bonus episode of Torchwood this week? AMAZING. And whatcha mean TWO MORE WEEKS?

... wow, mediaplayer. Wow. :p

I finally got around to burning SJA to DVD so I could get it OFF my poor harddrive (there are new Sims expansions!). Naturally I had to check that the files burned properly first. Mostly it means watching the beginning, my favourite scenes in the middle and the end of each episode to check that the files are all there.

So I watched the end of every episode in the series in a single evening. I came to the conclusion that a good alternate title for the series is "Is It Can Be Hugs Tiem Nao?" If the episode doesn't end with cliffhanger, it ends with hugs tiem. :p

Related to this, someone has dared me to write a fic about Desire being in charge of Torchwood, because... yeah. This led to talking to Tess about which Endless are responsible for which of the other shows. Doctor Who itself HAS to be Del. Who else would come up with a flying police box and a man who wears a STICK OF CELERY?

And Hugs Tiem? Totally Death. :p Whatever Happened To Sarah Jane? is her trying to make a point to magical girls that unkilling people is a BAD idea. :p

Welcome to my weirdness. :p

Apparently Codiac Transit (the Moncton bus system) has decided to put WiFi on buses. I'm not sure how they decided this was the best use of resources. Personally, I'd be more interested in, oh, I don't know, running buses after SIX O'CLOCK on weeknights. Heck, if they really want to put WiFi somewhere, how about major transfer points where you spend an hour waiting for you connection!

Also... Cthulu can has cheezburger? :p

I'm amused that a lot of the reviews on my latest fic are praising my Destiny voice. Mostly because Destiny is NOT a character I ever imagined myself writing. I guess that's what I get for mentioning him from Death's POV a few times. Next thing I know I'm starting to like him and thinking his relationship with Death is actually kinda cute and writing fic about it. :p (Still from Death's POV though :p)

Katikabe! Did you know there's a new Gaiman geek book? The Neil Gaiman Reader, full of essays. I've only flipped through it so far, but it looks fun. There's more Joseph Campbell stuff, and an interview I hadn't seen before. Which included this gem:

I thought she was going to be a lot colder. I thought she was going to be a much chillier, ice maiden sort of character. I wanted somebody who was together. I figured death-- it's a steady job, you get out and meet people. It's not very easy for the Sandman. He's a very out-of-touch character by definition. He goes off into ivory towers; he has no real friends, no real relationships. She gets to see everybody, on a daily basis. She's out there personally meeting everyone. I really didn't want a brooding Death. I didn't want a Death who agonized over her role in life. I figured that by this point, she'd have gotten used to it. But then she found out she was perky.

He also mentions that Death writes most of her own dialogue. Which I definitely buy, because goodness knows she does it when I write fic with her. :p She's the most ridiculously easy character to write. Other characters could learn a thing or two from her. (KEI!)

He also mentioned that Del writes her own dialogue, but he'd mentioned that in the Companion too. That also makes sense, because Del is really easy to write... once you LET yourself write her. It's kinda SCARY when you get in the zone for writing her. Kinda like River.

I also picked up Fragile Things, because it's out in paperback now. It makes sense that it is, but I'm surprised he didn't mention it on his blog. :p

The point is... what does he DO with all those souls?

I spent most of the day in the lab today, which was pretty exciting. I have a giant mystery peak of DOOM in my NMR. So I'm hoping if I recrystalize it'll just go away on its own. :p

I would like to remain Destiny of the Endless to Density of the Endless. Why did I decide he and Death had a kind of cute relationship and I should write a fic about them? :p He doesn't TALk gaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

One of these days I'll write a fic that only involves characters that are easy to make talk. Wait, I did. THere was that fic about Del and River (easy to write once I stop being freaked out by how easy they are to write) and that Death/Death fic (Sandman Death is dead easy to write, Discworld Death isn't much harder :p) It's just that my current projects involve Destiny. Or Zoe. Or KEI. :p

We're almost done showing Firefly to my sister's friend. I love watching people see "Out of Gas" for the first time. Specifically the scene where Mal meets Kaylee. Priceless. :p

Sim Wash became an elder today. Take THAT canon! He and Zoe also finally have half their kids out of the house, since Ruth went off to uni. Ruth still has a serious thing for Desire, Zoe and Wash might want to worry. :p At Stephanie's insistance, they have a kitten named Pirate. They strike me as more of a dog family, so that's coming soon. :p

Sweet, sweet internet, never leave me again! :p

I hate apartment hunting. It's hard enough finding vacancies, and then explaining that actually, no I can't show up in person, we're currently roughly a thousand kilometres away! I just want to have a place to live and not have to be doing this anymore.

I've played lots of sims in my internet deprived state. Amid my epidemic of baby girls, Winter and Tycho can't seem to have anything but boys. They have their university oopsie baby Bail who is now a teenager, and then they have a toddler named Airen and baby twins named Garm and Jan. Also, the awesomeness of Seasons includes toddlers aging up to randomly selected toddler hair, and Airen wound up with Winter white hair, which is awesome.

Destruction, Desire and Despair are all now in university. I actually decided Destiny needed a wife, because his house is going to get SO boring once Del leaves too. :p University in fall is a dream, incidently. They fill the class bar SO crazy fast. Combined with only playing every other semester and they're all flying. Though the clock has clicked into winter now. I hope I get to see snow soon. :p

Thisland Washburne is now married to Marigold Tam (Simon's alien MPreg baby :p). It took ages for me to get them married because they were on such different schedules. :p

I looked into manufacturer exchanging Pets, but it looks like the shipping charges would be absurd. So I'm going to return for store credit and just buy the bloody thing elsewhere. :p

Finally, my brother got fed up with CBC's nonsense and downloaded the current season of Doctor Who. We only have three episodes to go.

And I have been DYING to squee and didn't have internet )

So, 3:45? SO not a good wakeup time. It's more like a go to sleep time. But that's when I had to get up today to make it to the 4:45 meet time to go count the Zellers in Saint John. Everyone was in agreement that it was an unholy hour. Tomorrow's meet time is 5:45, which is likewise unpleasant.

I was assigned a "buddy" today at work, a new guy who I was supposed to be helping out. It was kinda weird, since he was old enough to be my dad and I was teaching him. :p The store was about 70% hardline (things counted in multiples, considered harder to count even though I honestly prefer it), so I got pulled off softline to go do exciting things like groceries and cookware. I was doing a little "I get to do multies!" dance because I had been told that I was going to be on the one at a time stuff all day to keep me close to my buddy. :p

So yeah, short version, I HATE MORNINGS. :p

Oh, and a couple Zellers associates were having a loud conversation in which one of them was trying to explain the difference between manga and comics. It was all I could do to not yell out "You're doing it wrong!" when he explained it as "Comics don't have a story and suck. Manga has a story and doesn't suck."

CLEARLY he's been reading the wrong comics. I mean, the whole lack of story thing used to be my perception of comics. Then some evil person recommended Sandman, which had a story and was made of awesome. And then I started finding out about lots of comics that have stories. Of course, given the price, I'm not sure this was a good thing. D*MN YOU NEIL GAIMAN!

Aww, who am I kidding. I can't get mad at Neil Gaiman. :p

So, you are all SPAMMERS. I'm at skip=300 and I'm only to THURSDAY. And this is on the filter with most of the spammy communities removed!

I eventually wound up borrowing someone's cellphone to call [livejournal.com profile] neekabe, but we did eventually succeed in making plans. So I was supposed to meet her at the Chapters by MicMac Mall at one. I managed the first bus fine, it was the transfer that got to me. I discovered that in Halifax, it's not enough to know the NUMBER of the bus you're looking for, you have to know the name for the relevant direction. I wound up at Dalhousie University. :p I did eventually make it to the mall though, and all was well. :p

The bookstore was, all things considered, a really dangerous meeting place for us. I wound up buying the Serenity novelization, even though there SO wasn't room for it in my luggage. I'm not sure how exactly I'm going to manage to read The Bad Thing though, considering I usually whimper through that entire scene. :p

After we'd spent enough time around that temptation, we took the bus over to downtown Halifax to find more temptations. :p Starting with "Are you in the mood for massive amounts of sugar? Candy store!" :p We also went to HMV, where I convinced her to buy Firefly, and now she's all addicty and stuff. :p (Serves her right. She persuaded me to buy Sandman!) We stopped into Strange Adventure and I managed to NOT BUY ANYTHING! We ogled the GORGEOUS Dream statue (gorgeous, but $40 :p), and Absolute Sandman volume one (Which is physically gorgeous, and the interior colouring has all been redone and looks MUCH better, but I can't justify $100 for a fancier edition of something I already own)

We wandered down to the waterfront, and I picked up a pair of earrings because they were pretty. I'm justifying it with "Umm... I need earrings to wear to Bill and Lindsay's wedding?" Plus, they weren't too expensive and it's been a while since I bought new earrings.

We had sushi for supper, which was an awesome change from "those two places across from the hotel". :p And of course, there was much of that talky thing that people do when they're around each other.

Yesterday was absolutely BRUTAL. There were about 90 people scheduled, but less than 50 actually showed up. So we started at 7 AM and didn't finish until 11:30 PM. I was sick to DEATH of hearing about the Zellers in house pharmacy, not to mention losing my ability to count. (As in, my machine showed 51 items and my manual count showed 60... it turned out that I had counted "48, 49, 50, 60" :p) Just to make matters worse, once we finished we had to drive for a little over an hour to get to Bridgewater, where we were supposed to count today. So I got to bed a bit after 1 AM and had to wake up at 5:15 AM.

We got to the store, and were all dreading how long we were going to be here before the three hour drive home. (There was talk of mutiny if we didn't make it out by eight) Well, we made it out by eight. Eight in the MORNING, that is. I had just punched in and scanned my first item when we were informed to shut down, because we didn't have enough people to do the store and would have to reschedule. Which is probably a good thing, because the people we did have? ZOMBIES at this point.

So we made it back to Moncton safely. I must say, I should go away more often, because I get all SORTS of interesting mail. :P There was the invitation for Bill and Lindsay's wedding (which is beautiful, Lindsay :D) Though there was the fun realization that the reception being in Maine might mean passport, I need to check the rules for driving across the border. If so, I sure hope I can get a passport in time. :p

Of course, the MOST exciting arrival while I was gone had to be my wedding dress. I tried it on, and I LOVE it. It fits, which is wonderful, and it's BEAUTIFUL, unlike all the scary things that I'd been seeing around. The fabric is in really good condition, which is amazing considering it was my grandmother's dress as well as my mother's. We have to find a good dry cleaner to get it pressed. We're thinking of asking the alteration shop that I'm going to rent my hoops at for recommendations. (It's a great shop, they did the alterations on my prom dress for me :p)

So yeah, I'm not going to go into further detail about the dress because Ryan reads this thing. I may make a "not Ryan" filter to post a picture later, but he's sitting right next to me at the moment. :p

So, I'm apparently all about the movies this summer. Ryan and I watched The Nightmare Before Christmas a couple days ago, which was great fun. I'd never seen the movie before, because I live under a rock. Ryan kept telling me to pay attention to the layout of Oogie Boogie's house because I was going to need it when I got to Halloween Town in Kingdom Hearts. :p

We also watched the other random Tim Burton stuff on the DVD. Including a Frankenstein type thing with a boy and his dog, which demonstrated that everything would have been FINE if Victor hadn't rejected his creation. Well, and been less whiny. :p

Yesterday we went to see Shrek the Third, which was also very fun. Cute little ogre babies and dragon/donkey freak babies! And fun with the Arthurian myth. We were trying to figure out why Artie's voice sounded so familiar. I was shocked to discover it was Justin Timberlake. :p And the stuff with Fiona and the damsels in distress? SO awesome.

I also played a bit of Kingdom Hearts, finishing up with Monstro. The High Jump ability is AWESOME... even if it does mean that I keep overshooting my target. :p The parasite cage only killed me once. Stupid poison. :p Also, it was so weird seeing Gepetto and Pinochio after reading Fables. :p

And of course, there's always Sims. :p Anakin Solo aged up to toddler... I'm hoping he'll grow into his cheekbones. :p I really need to make Mara, because Luke is next up in the rotation in the main neighborhood, and one sim houses are BORING. Timothy and Marigold Tam started university, along with Timothy's girlfriend, Skanky Pink Leggings Girl.... err, Meadow. :p I've decided to change Marigold from Romance to Pleasure when she finishes Sophomore year so she won't have to constantly cheat on Thisland to achieve her LTW. Monty and Saffron had a baby girl, who I named Bridgit. Monty and Saffron split up after Monty caught Saffron flirting with Mal. Monty and Mal now live together, and Mal just ADORES Bridgit, it's so cute.

Oh, and apparently Alderaanian birth control kinda sucks. I had my second "oopsie" baby since getting InTeen. The first one was Han and Leia. This time, it was Tycho and Winter. So they now have a baby boy named Bail. They also have very little money because I had to build them a nursery and they had the baby in the second semester of sophomore year. At least Han and Leia waited until they graduated. :p

Oh, and I read Destiny: A Tale of Deaths Foretold, because I found it on the two for one table at Gamezilla. It was a cool little comic. My fondness for Destiny continues to grow. Which is strange, because I used to think of him as a rather boring character. Also, the art was quite nice. I don't exactly read comics for the art (See: Preludes and Nocturnes) but it's always a nice bonus when there's pretty art.

QotD: "And I would like to invite the children who will be receiving their first communion up to the altar now. I would have done this sooner, but I didn't look at my notes."

My father pointed to the family sitting in front of us this morning and declared "That's going to be you in seven years or so." My immediate reaction was "Five kids? I DON'T THINK SO." He insists he just meant the youngest kid who was all over the place, but still. :p Meanwhile my mother was trying to figure out if the man at the end of the row was the mother's husband or not, because she was going to strangle him if he was. I'm pretty sure he wasn't though, because I think one of the older boys was one of my Beavers so I would recognize his dad. The point is... that's a NO on the five kids, between two parents there are only four hands! :p

I spent most of the day playing Sims. I need to learn to check teenagers' fears before I have them abducted by aliens to get scholarships. :p I sent poor Timothy Tam into aspirational failure because his sister Marigold had been abducted the day before, which made him roll a fear of being abducted himself. Umm, oops? And he was being stubborn about me being able to fix things, since his wants were "have first kiss", "go to college", "go steady" and "new family member", none of which are easily attained. At least when I sent Kaoru and Himeno into aspirational failure by killing Himeno's mom they rolled up some EASY wants. Like "eat cereal". :p

I also played the Endless. Can I just say that Delirium would be a very INTERESTING fast food shift manager? :p

Finally, poor Inara is probably wishing I'd never read about that horrible "switched tea" plot from a bad RP. :p

Also, my brother is a BRAT. He keeps declaring "I won The Game!" Which makes me and Gwenna LOSE The Game, because winning isn't how the game WORKS. :p

(And yes, now you all lose The Game!)
