Ryan: I want this song. *plugs in MP3 player*
Me: Okay. Do you want "Geek Like Me" while I'm at it?
Ryan: I have it.
Me: You do? Where did you get it?
Ryan: From you!
Me: That's impossible, I only got it recently.
Ryan: I'm sure you gave it to me.
Me: No, I gave you "Geeks In Love", there's a difference.

Yes. I have multiple geek love songs. Is anyone actually surprised?

Set your media player to random. Answer the following questions with song titles

Considering my music collection... )

Thanks to the current event, I have learned that it is much easier to write about two characters having sex using only song lyrics for dialogue than it is to write about a doctor treating head injuries.

Also, Martha saying "Gonna buy you barley, carrots and pertaters" is one of the better images of my life. Don't forget to hear "pertaters" in her accent! (There... aren't that many songs about vegetables, okay? :p)

Danny Boy. With yodeling. I love Cover Freak.

Just watched the first episode of Glee. What do you mean I have to wait until FALL for the second one? :p

Also, I am going to have "Don't Stop Believing" stuck in my head FOREVER. Though at least everyone at work does too. :p
yubsie: (Default)
Watched Repo! today. It was great. Though how did I not notice in all my time listening to the soundtrack that Nathan is, uh, GILES?

I also tried to watch Razor. Yeah. Tried. The DVD kept skipping and the stopped playing altogether. So Amazon's sending me a new set. :p

I, uh, also may have bought season 3. Evil DVDs being in stores and not made of gold and diamonds. At least this way if any disc is a dud it's easier to get fixed. :p

And now I'm playing the awkwardest thread EVER in Glacxin. Poor Bill. The last thing he needed after getting thrown in prison was to walk into the dining hall and see his son naked in a glass box. :p

Oh, I also bought a new MP3 player. Mostly because I wanted one with a built in battery, since the one I have runs on AAAs and eats them for breakfast. It is shiny and I am filling it. :p

1. Put your iTunes, Windows Media Player, etc. on shuffle.
2. For each question, press the next button to get your answer.
3. You must write that song name down no matter how silly it makes you look.
4. Tag Your friends! (or not.)

Lullabye for a Stormy Night )

"The Doctor's Daughter" is just as delightful the second time around. I adore Jenny. Then again, it's hard not to. :p

The Torchwood finale is slightly less traumatizing. Slightly. I still hate Tess for it though. :p D*MN YOU TESS!

Also, musical madlibs are BRILLIANT. Absolutely brilliant.

Meme from Yrie. I knew I'd get around to it eventually. :p

Choose your three favorite (or five favorite or 25 favorite) ships.

Write each ship in your LJ.

Beside each ship, put down the song that makes you think of that ship (like the ship's theme song).

Write one sentence about why the song is your ship's song.

And yeah, a lot of these will be cheatery and using stuff I've used on FSTs before. :p

Zoe/Wash- "Married" from Cabaret. Because they're just scraping by in the black, but they still manage to be happy because they married each other. (Runner Up: "Baby Got Back" :p)

Himeno/Hayate- "Saying Something Stupid". Always looking for the right words and then freezing up. (Really guys "I love you" will do the trick!)

Simon/Kaylee- "Mix Tape" from Avenue Q. It's so Kaylee with the whole "He likes me... I think he likes me" thing. (Though "When You Say Nothing at All" is also an option. That's when Simon says it best!)

Han/Leia- "The More You Ruv Someone" from Avenue Q. They found the person they most wanted to kill and they didn't kill each other, because it turned out that person was their love. :p

Neville/Luna- "Arthur C. Clarke's Mysterious World" This is a song I got on, well, a Neville/Luna fanmix about how the guy doesn't understand his girl, but really, that's what he loves about her.

Death/Death- "The Dress Looks Nice On You" by Sufjan Stevens. Mostly for the whole thing about "I can see a lot of life in you". (Runner Up: "So Happy Together" :p)

Mal/Saffron- Not a ship so much, but their song is "Always a Woman", because what about that song DOESN'T reflect their dynamic?

Carrot/Angua- "Just the Way You Are. Because Carrot DOES love Angua just the way she is... if only she would actually BELIEVE him. :p (This is why they are the OFP :p)

Tosh/Owen- "Jonny Don't Go" from Zombie Prom. Actually, the entire musical is basically their themesong, but this song has a nuclear plant that the guy shouldn't go to. :P (One song contains the line "Toffee, face it, the boy is dead. You'll be a widow before you're wed.")

Peeves/Marietta- "Your Song" They bonded over Peeves' music, and he painted pictures!

Ned/Chuck- "I Touch Myself" the Scala version. I never say I'm sorry. :p

Heh, my mediaplayer is funny. It's on shuffle and went from "Oh What a Circus/Requiem for Evita" (OBC) to... "Oh What a Circus" (movie). I am easily amused.

Secret of Monkey Island continues to be highly entertaining. I love that you can carry FIRE in your inventory with a bunch of paper, but you can only carry grog for a limited time before it eats the mug. (Actually, trying to get the grog where it needed to go was quite possibly the most annoying thing yet :P)

And now I shall show off my dragons. :p

Lots of dragons )

Comment on this post, and I will choose seven interests from your profile and ask you to explain what they mean, and why you are interested in them. Post this along with your answers in your journal so that others can play.

Anne McCaffrey

Author of The Dragonriders of Pern, as well as some fun science fiction stuff. I first starting reading her work in middle school because, well, DRAGONS! She also has some... interesting views on tent pegs. But still fun books. :p

Arrogant Worms

A brilliantly hilarious Canadian comedy band that also does some freaking GORGEOUS harmonies when you'd least expect them (such as in a song called "Brian's Balls"). They actually DON'T sing "The War of 1812", but they do sing such gems as "The Last Saskatechewan Pirate" and "Canada's Really Big". And my Olympic themesong for Canada... "Rocks and Trees" :p

Han Solo

Everyone's favourite no good half witted scruffy looking NERF HERDER. I mean, what's NOT to love about Han Solo? Also, he shot first. :p

inventing languages

For a while there was a language inventing task in the House Cup. Tess and I always had a BLAST doing it. We invented a whole House Elf culture to explain our language. Then we did Giant Squiddese. We made * and several other random symbols letters solely so d*mn was pronounceable (it's pronounced "doom", in case you're wondering :p). We also put apostrophes everywhere because we'd always wanted to invent a language with a bunch of superfluous apostrophes. For some reason, this task went away next game. :p

mythological dysfunctional families

Believe it or not, I actually had this interest BEFORE I started reading Sandman. Mythological families tend to be incredibly dysfunctional... and it's incredibly entertaining. :p

rocksay off

One night I posted a House Cup task and went to bed. The next morning, we realized that it contained the phrase "Normally Godric would be rocksay off". Tess and I never DID figure out what "rocksay off" was SUPPOSED to be. Now it's the follow up to "rock on!" :p But man, I wish I could figure out what that typo was SUPPOSED to be. :p

sloshed stus

Part of the Insane Ravenclaw fanon. They're self aware characters based on various Ravenclaw players. Originally they were invented to fulfill the "students getting drunk" challenge fic requirement. By the time Nicky stopped including that requirement, the Stus had taken on a life of their own. The drinking is actually a cover for the fact that they're the Headmaster's secret world saving force. The tradition goes back to the sixth year of Hogwarts' existance.

Hmm, my music is on shuffle, might as well play the shuffle game! Usual rules. I post some lines from what shuffles up, you poor suckers wonder wtf kind of music I listen to, guess the ones you think you actually know and eventually Tess comes along and desecrates the meme. :p

(Also, I may have added another egg to my last post... :p)

Everyone loves the lyric game! )

It rained BUCKETS last night. This led to the discovery that ALL the water runs toward our corner of the building. So yeah, we had water leaking into the living room. We got people in with a steam cleaner and they cut out a section of the underpadding (EW, so much dirt got washed in too), so now we're just waiting for things to dry. :p

Some of you may be familiar with my vaguely obsessive quest for the version of Jesus Christ Superstar I listened to growing up. Most musicals I don't mind different casts, but for some reason this one is so ingrained that it HAS to be the one I listened to as a child. All the other recordings seem to either have a bad Judas or a bad Pilate or a bad Herod (And yes, his one song TOTALLY matters) or in one case a bad JESUS. The OBC sounds like DUCKS. :p I have a really good Spanish recording, but I rather want the right English one. :p I'm pretty sure that the one I'm trying to find is the concept album, at this point. Which I can't find ANYWHERE. But the Original London Cast sounds close! It's the best one yet!

Also, Tanz der Vampire is made of win. What's NOT to love about a German musical about vampires that borrows music from... "Total Eclipse of the Heart" :p

Bowling with the chem department was fun. I lost. Repeatedly (Also, I lost the game!). People kept laughing at my "Fall down because the shoes are slippery and the momentum needs to go somewhere" approach to bowling. :p

Apparently William Hartnell died exactly 10 years before I was born. Other people who died on my negative birthday include William Wordsworth, Shakespeare (knew about that one :p), Brian Boru and Saint George. :p
