Icons! )

Last night's Who gave some good icon fodder, but wasn't flaily enough to get a flail post. Still, eager for conclusion, especially since I didn't realize it was a two parter. Still love Eleven and Amy and Rory!

Also, we couldn't find Schroedinger today. We were looking all over the house, looking in suitcases and cupboards. I even checked if she'd gotten outside somehow even though BOTH cats will just look at the door if we leave it wide open. We asked Archimedes where Schroedy was and she hopped up into the top drawer of my dresser. Naturally, we ignored her.

Eventually Ryan started opening the drawers of my dresser even though there was no logical way she could have gotten in there.

Apparently that didn't stop her, because we found her in the middle drawer. She was... less than impressed. :p

I shall gak a meme from [livejournal.com profile] sunshine_queen because I can!

Choose one of my icons and I'll tell you something about it. Or probably several somethings. In fact, I'll probably natter on a bit, because it turns out I'm a little obsessed with shiny graphics in small sizes.

Because icons are fun!

Because Yayoi totally came up with the greatest description of Hobbie EVER.

This one is from [livejournal.com profile] thepodsquad

Comment and pick seven of my icons, and I'll explain why I love/am using the icon (who doesn't love talking about their icons, seriously). It'll basically be a huge squeefest of love and 100x100 square pixels.

GIP! Complete and utter GIP!

It totally makes sense

Yay, I passed my problem seminar. Dr Hudson decided to change the requirements. Originally we had to answer seven questions and get all seven right. He changed it to getting four right. And I got four. So barely pass, but it's a pass and the course is pass/fail. So three passes down, three to go.

I am also amused that he emailed us to tell us what the P and F meant. I'm sure we wouldn't have figured it out on our own. :p

Also, we have decided the professors are slacking this year. Next week's problem seminar will also be an exam. This will be the fourth. Come on, there must be errors in the literature out there somewhere!

But it's on N-heterocyclic carbenes. I know a bit about those thanks to Paul's work, though admittedly I know more main group stuff about them than organic.

Also, new icon. :p

Gakked from lots of people. Do people still say gakked or am I horribly unhip even on the internet? :p

Cut for pictures! )

[livejournal.com profile] pirate_lass and [livejournal.com profile] helplessdancer both got me!

So I talk about ten icons )

Also, the bonus episode of Torchwood this week? AMAZING. And whatcha mean TWO MORE WEEKS?

... wow, mediaplayer. Wow. :p

Look, I finally have a Torchwood icon! :p

I still want him to fairy my wedding. So much. :p Or at least find me some shoes. :p
yubsie: (Default)
I finally has a Sarah Jane icon!

I did my first oil change yesterday. Not on a car like a normal person. Nope, on a vacuum pump! The vacuum isn't much better though, so now my poor pump is in the shop. Fortunately, Yun is letting me use her line since she's writing up her thesis.

Oh, Vicki, it turns out the reason Hillary Duff wasn't Britney Spears was that Spamalot and We Will Rock You both changed their scripts recently to no longer poke fun at Spears because sad people aren't funny. I guess they just hadn't changed the programs yet, since they're probably printed in massive quantities. :p

I don't like the new verse for Diva's Lament though! They changed "I've no Grammy, no rewards/I've no Tony Awards/I'm constantly replaced by Britney Spears/Britney Spears!" to "They hate me there backstage/They say I'm too old for my age/They're trying to replace me with Posh Spice/With Posh Spice!"

I hate it. The rhythm is ALL WRONG. Verses that don't scan aren't funny either. :p

Yeah, I lose at updating. I just keep getting distracted. It seems to happen so easily these days. I have to concentrate so much harder on listening to things these days, which might be part of the problem. I think my hearing is getting worse. I should have mentioned it when I had my physical on Tuesday, but I forgot... oops. :p

Katie, your DVDs are in the mail. Vicki, so is your check.

I have a new icon, because Four is basically tied with Ten for my affections at the moment. Still need a Ten icon. :p And a Sarah Jane icon, because she is also awesome. :p On that note...

Sarah Jane Adventures: Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane? Part Two )

Old School Doctor Who: Robot )

And now for something completely different...

Grey's Anatomy )

Comment on this post. I'll choose seven userpics from your profile and you'll reply here, explaining what they mean and why you're using them. Post this along with your answers in your own journal so others can play along.

I has weird icons :p )
yubsie: (Default)
Dude, where's my layout? (Seriously, it's randomly vanished :p)

We bought a kitchen table yesterday. It came with four chairs. We only really need two, so one is being used as my sewing chair and the fourth is in a corner somewhere to be pulled out when entertaining (because it would get in the way of the fridge normally. :P

I also tried out my new sewing machine yesterday and I heaaaaaaaaart it. I finished up the hood, so today I'm hoping to get started on the rest of the cloak.

We also watched the Fifth Doctor's first arc. I quite like him. Of course, I've yet to meet a Doctor I didn't like. :p Teagan is also really cool. :D Also, I want to see Deadpool, because David TEnnant sings and dances. :p

And I found Photoshop! It was in my drawer thingy. Sometimes known as my other boot. So I can make icons again! As soon as I rebuild my font collection. :p So I can have Doctor Who icons! And all those other things I talked about wanting icons of. :p

I have a weird hobby of looking at every list of wedding song ideas that I come across. This frequently leads to me WTFing and wondering if people even READ the lyrics. I mean, I love "I Will Follow You INto the Dark" but it's kinda DEATHTASTIC (and I don't mean super cheery like I usually do when I say that. :p) Also, "Thank Heaven for Little Girls" as a father/daughter dance? NO BAD WRONG. "A Whole New World", while fine for a bride/groom dance, is not father/daugther material. I mean, wasn't Jasmine's father the one KEEPING her from seeing the world, shining, shimmering, splendid? "My Heart Will Go On" just makes me think "They're like that couple from Titanic, only no one dies, omigod you guys!"

And "Memory" from Cats? Do people just not LISTEN to these songs before they suggest them?

And yes, I look at these lists just for the WTF factor, since we already have both those songs picked out. :p

EDIT: Well, my layout's back. :p

Comment and I will give you 3 interests on your list, and 3 icons, for you to explain.

[livejournal.com profile] sunshine_queen asked:

This one is probably obvious to about half my flist. The half that doesn't know the Gundam Wing fandom, on the other hand, is probably most confused. Most of the male characters (and some of the females) have a name that corresponds to a number. Two is my favourite character, Duo. H is Hilde, a woman he spends several episodes with and appears to be living with at one point. I think they would be cute together. This is a very lonely pairing to ship, incidently, because the fandom is rather dominated by 1x2. I don't particularly like Heero. It kinda sucks to be a Duo fan when you just don't feel 1x2. :p

Ewoks eating timbits

Well, I like Ewoks. I like Timbits. (Donut holes from Tim Hortons :p) This phrase actually originated as the silly option on a poll by AT_ST_DRIVER in Atlantic Canada General over at the JC. Back when the JC was cool and ACG was a blast. :p

Marion Zimmer Bradley

I'd honestly forgotten I still had her listed as an interest. :p I used to be a big Darkover fan when I was younger. I tried to read The Mists of Avalon this year though, and I came to the conclusion that I probably would have enjoyed it in high school, but now all I could notice was that she was trying too hard to Make Her Point. (Though Vicki tells me the book does get better when they actually get into the Arthurian myth instead of the setup)

This is one of my family's cats. His name is Wes, because he was the little troublemaker who was always trying to get out of the basket when he was a kitten. He likes to live up to his name, hence "Delicious chaos". :p

Oh, Han/Leia, how I love you so. The text is from "The More You Ruv Someone" from Avenue Q, which is totally Han and Leia's song. It opens with "The more you love someone, the more you want to kill them." The verse the text actually comes from is "And when you find someone you wanting most to kill him. You go and find him. ANd you get him. And you no kill him. 'Cause chance is good he is your love."

[livejournal.com profile] obaona made this for me in one of those memes where they make an icon based on your interests. The phrase "procrastinatable" is, like many things, a joke between me and Tess. Tess was offering to send me some sort of shiny thing when I was busy with school, and I said "Ooh! More procrastinatables!" Procrastinatables are thus any shiny thing used to procrastinate because they're more fun. :p

Okay, today is all about the Japanese. The exam is tomorrow, but I'm not terribly worried. This is the one class where I can be absolutely sure of what to expect. She likes to pull up random words we only used once, but I know that. There can really be no surprises, which is a nice change from fourth year chemistry. :p So the plan is to pull up some Supernatural (because my friends keep raving about it :p) and drill kanji, followed by flashcards.

You can tell this is a total study day, because I'm wearing an ugly sweatshirt and no socks. :p

This is also partially a GIP. :p
yubsie: (Default)
I actually made icons today! It's been AGES! I'm thinking my habit of relating Firefly and Sandman may grown into a full blown set. Hence this icon. :p Oh procrastinatin, how I love thee.\

I did do some work today though. I drilled with my Japanese flash cards. It amuses me that the word for "easy" is apparently really hard for me to remember. The word for "difficult" on the other hand... :p

Ryan came over today and... watched me drill flashcards. Oh, and we watched random tv while I did this. We wound up watching a random episode of Twice in a Lifetime because Vicki was flipping through channels and we happened upon Book. :p We DIED when Ron Glass's character said that he never married. :p We also watched a bunch of Little People, Big World because the commercials had done their job quite nicely it making us want to know what happened. :p
yubsie: (Default)
So, how's this icon for a blast from the past? :p

Karate party was crazy fun last night. I got my grading sheet back. I lost marks on basics (possibly for doing "The Wheels on the Bus" :p) and katta (for, well, screwing up :p), but I got full marks on sparring. So apparently I'm fine as long as I'm actually fighting a real person. What does THAT mean? :p

I got an A on my Organic paper, which is obviously super shiny. I just have one assignment and paper left for that class, since there's no exam. The paper is actually all typed up, I just need to go through it tonight to make sure that things like "This structure would make Langler cry" were typed into an IM window and not the paper itself. :p The assignment is going to be a bit of an adventure, since it's a question where the answer isn't actually known.

From the realm of the all pervasive Facebook, one of my students used it to ask me for an extension on her lab report. Is there anything Facebook ISN'T used for? :p (Which reminds me I have to mark the rest today. I managed to borrow Lach's marking scheme, since mine is MIA. :p)

I gave Glen a deadline for my rec letter today, so that will actually get done. I've been getting slightly stressed about the whole thing. Once I have that letter in my hand, I can send my application and nag Steve to mail HIS rec letter himself.
